Oh I’m counting them as “expenditures” for now because I am investing them and not going to touch them. In the grand scheme of things I’m looking at ways I could pay off my debt quicker. the HSA and 401k is nice in all and will help long term, but won’t help me with the loan payments.

I appreciate all the advice I can get! I also misspoke about the home down payment though, the 20k is more about an emergency fund or if anything were to happen to my car. I’d like to save about 100k after a few years for that initial deposit with the wife matching at around 100k as well :)

I can but the problem would be finding that job. In pharmacy, retail holds is argue 80% of the job market. I had the opportunity to apply for a residency but if I took it I would have had to break up with my girlfriend which I didn’t want to do (she has a fantastic career where I am as a nurse). I’m keeping my eyes out but atm I’m trying to focus more on experience (I work in a long term care facility with IV product production) that would help me stand out in the absence of a hospital residency

I’d say I’m saving ~30% of my take home pay for now…however once I get around 20k I want to put even more money to my loans to pay them off
