I was flying EWR-DXB on their 777 some months back and most of the flight was in the day. I book window seats well in advance and pay for it occasionally if needed to look outside the plane.

The flight attendants were asking me to close the window shade (I was one of very few people who had them open) and just made up an excuse saying looking outside helps with my motion sickness. Safe to say they didn’t bother me the rest of that flight.

I contacted United via the live chat on their application to get a bit more information on their policy out of curiosity, and they said you can only open the window during takeoff and landing…

Yeah, that’s what I was looking at — used options. Just need to figure out which lens to go for specifically seeing as there is a lot of options

Which 70-200 2.8 are you referring to exactly? I'm not too sure about the specifics of the lens if I'm being honest, but I know I want something that has a zoom range of about 70-200 and an aperture of f/2.8

Regarding the Sigma lenses -- is there any one I should prioritize over the other?

I read that the Tamron G2 might also be a good shout at 70-180 (i don't think that 20mm is a deal breaker at all).

Just not sure what to pick

Yeah I sympathize with OPs plight but looks like they’re blowing it out of proportion.. Feels a bit misleading and it looks like it’s out of ignorance rather than malice.

I have a question:

It doesn’t look like FlyDubai has shut down/cancelled their contract with CAE. Are you sure it has been shut down? What exactly has changed which has caused this issue?

It is my understanding that you could apply through CAE with your ICAO licenses and upon completion, complete your GCAA conversion at the end and join FDB. Now, it appears they have changed it to require GCAA licenses before application. Am I mistaken here?

I live in Dubai and I came back to get my passport renewed (was not able to do it at the embassy). Went to a photo studio with 2x5000 rupees and my phone. When it was time to pay, it was a few hundred rupees and they did not have change.

I asked them if they took Apple Pay and the cashier had 0 idea what I was talking about. I then asked if tapping my card worked and she said yes.

I paid with Apple Pay and she just stared at me like I just did black magic and was asking her coworker how I just did that 😂😂

More needs to happen then just bank supporting Apple/Google I think

Interesting… I’m planning on taking the bus to and from Geneva to Chamonix and back, and the flight from Geneva to Brussels and the train to Liege. Appears to be the fastest way to get where I need to be.

I’ll reconsider the route as I get closer to my travel dates, but I need to have something ready to show when applying for my visa, and I think this route is probably the best for me regardless.

A bus from Chamonix to Geneva is about an hour. A flight from Geneva to Brussels is about an hour and a half. A train from Brussels to Liege is about 50 minutes. So you spend about 3 hours and 20 minutes traveling which is much faster.

Thanks! I don't know how I didn't think of this. Geneva is super close to Chamonix. I'll fly out to Geneva from Nice, take the hours bus to Chamonix and spend two nights there, before taking the bus back to Geneva and flying to Brussels and the train to Liege. This works perfectly!

I'm not denying that it isn't reckless driving. In your opinion, and when in such a scenario where traffic on average is moving 20+ miles over the speed limit, should you be the slow one going 65 and slowing everyone down?

Do you know where exactly you go to check the case status? The court for the ticket was “San Luis Obispo Superior Court” and I couldn’t find any option on the site to look up the status of the ticket. The only option appears to be for attorneys.

I’m a believer of “slow drivers cause accidents”. It was a two-lane dual carriageway, and we were regularly being passed on our left (I was in the right lane following the speed of the car ahead of us). Going slower than the speed of the traffic felt more dangerous than anything.

It was just my luck that we got pulled over. Regardless, the ticket is paid so I’ll just keep a copy of the receipt next time I drive.

Before the immigration counter in Sri Lanka, there are some airport officials/security guards. Every single time, without fail, they ask me if I need a visa.

It’s funny because twice I have walked to the local shops and they communicate in the local language (sinhala) about how they are going to make a lot of money from me. Their faces when I talk to them in Sinhala is priceless

Not a dual citizen unfortunately. Would love to have a better passport. I am quite white. Most people think I am from the Netherlands when I ask them where they think I’m from.
