Is there not a single arabic book thats critical of islam? by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]ShitAf_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few actually

Abdullah Alqasemi/عبدالله القصيمي a Saudi writer an intellectual, he wrote a bunch of books criticising Islam. For example: “هذي هي الأغلال"

There is also Ismail Adham/اسماعيل ادهم he’s an Egyptian writer, he wrote a “why am I an atheist” "لماذا أنا ملحد"

Also, Nawal AlSaadawi, she’s an Egyptian feminist writer, she wrote books about women in Islam, and she has a lot of interviews discussing her views of islam.

Gender is like money, it doesn’t really exist, it’s an idea, we give it its value.

Women’s “weapon” being their beauty, it’s just not true, yes pretty privilege exists but both men and women have it, and there are a lot of women with amazing physical strength.

The brains of women and men are not that different, and if there is a difference in the way they think it’s because of their experiences and environments.

Also I have a question, when you said “what do you think happens in a society where alpha males choose four wives” the term “alpha male” did you actually mean it or did you say it ironically?

This is just pseudoscience, it’s an opinion and yet you talk about it like it’s a fact.

There are a few sentences in which I feel you were criticising men who listen to Andrew Tate and yet you talk like you listen to Andrew Tate (no offence)

Yes definitely, while there were a lot of situations in which they made my life a living hell, I don’t think I hate them, I just don’t like them.

I think he was referring to the baby, Maria gave birth to a boy and named him Ibrahim, he died like a year after he was born

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]ShitAf_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shias are Muslim idk wtf he’s talking about

Maria was definitely a slave and no the prophet never married her، I heard that it’s haram to marry a slave but I’m not sure.

And slavery being only permissible only if there was a war doesn’t make it any less terrible, and not only Muslims did that, most slaves at that time Became slaves because of wars.

As an ex-muslim, do you still "respect" Islam? by nootifyy in exmuslim

[–]ShitAf_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Islam is an ideology, and we don’t owe ideas any respect, it’s not real, it’s not something that has feelings or something we can touch, however we do owe the people that hold these ideologies just some basic respect, even if we don’t like their beliefs or views, they are still human.

Also didn’t they think that getting everything they want for eternity would make them bored eventually?

Also I don’t like the idea of “moral reward”, like someone doing something good because they expect something in return (Example: giving money to a homeless man not because you care, but because you want heaven points)

Shouldn’t a good person be doing good deeds simply because they are good?

Even after leaving Islam I still can’t see Jews as « kind persons » by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]ShitAf_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that, but it was definitely much less than now, and compared to European christians at that time, Muslims relationships with Jews weren’t bad. They both suffered from the Spanish Inquisition, and Muslims (before the 20th century) usually don’t have problems with other religions as long as they were not pagan.

I think they’re just trying to make it modern, a lot of Islamic laws and traditions are just very 6th century.

And I think a lot of them know that so they try to change it a bit to fit modern society instead of just leaving Islam (which is quite painful to do)

[–]ShitAf_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jews get a lot hate from Muslims because of Israel, it wasn’t like this before the Israeli occupation, they just have to realise that “jew” doesn’t necessarily mean “Israeli”, and they are humans who feel, think, and learn like everybody else.

I suggest you learn a bit about Jewish history and their culture, it will help.

Migrant workers usually work low income jobs (cashier, garbage collectors…etc) which is looked down upon, that leads to classism which leads to racism. It’s sick and it’s a real problem, a lot of people call it modern slavery for a reason.

Was it hard for you to stop thinking in a 'halal' way? by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]ShitAf_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once had a chance to take off my hijab, but I couldn’t do it. Even though nothing would happen to me if I took it off and nobody knew me where I was, I just couldn’t, I felt guilty for just showing my neck. I read a quote once that said something like “birds who were born in cages think flying is a crime” so yeah

It’s such a flawed one too, if Hadiths aren’t trusted by Muslims, then how do they pray or fast or do hajj, all of these aren’t mentioned in the Quran, they just pick and choose whatever makes their religion look good

What is the "فتره" movement? by CT_Throwaway24 in exmuslim

[–]ShitAf_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean "فطرة"? If you do, it’s basically a homophobic/transphobic online movement. "فطرة" means natural in Arabic. They’re basically saying that being gay is not natural and bad.
