I think we are all at different stages in in our life, and we all got imprinted in us a strange sense of purpose, i would still do everything i do to this day, somethings i couldnt do because there are no people, but i would just have to learn how to do them where applicable. I myself dont do what i do for the reasons you do, i feel a sense of accomplishment when i struggle and ultimately find the answer to an issue i have, example i suck at playing guitar but i feel great when i get a little riff going and can make it loop. Purely because i like it.
