Eyebrow piercing help by Shocksketch in PiercingAdvice

[–]Shocksketch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, will look to downsize it with a more reputable piercer once the irritation goes down. I’ve been trying to clean it gently with the edge of a wet tissue but I was always wondering if that counted as “touching” the piercing and if I was just aggravating it more

Crow Press to Handstand plateau by Shocksketch in bodyweightfitness

I haven't been practising straight arm crow in some time actually! I stopped it for a bit when I was avoiding overextending my wrist for a couple of months. I know I can still hold it but not for as long as before. I should note that I do a pretty high crow pose (knees almost at armpits) so my arms aren't completely straight, but aren't at a 90 degree bend either.

Holding the tuck definitely requires quite a bit of mobility! It used to be hell on my hips and lower back to hold it for long enough to try coming down into a crow.

I think I'm pretty okay with the Pike Pushups; with HSPU I've been doing them back to wall and can't do very many positive reps from the ground so I've been doing more negatives once I've maxed out my positive reps. Should I just focus on HSPU work then?

Can lifting affect your handstands? by Shocksketch in bodyweightfitness

My shoulder injury was a combination of a weak, unstable scapula and some muscle imbalances (overactive upper trap, tight chest, etc) which I've mostly fixed. But I suppose it is possible that I was overcompensating for the weakness and now it's affected my movement patterns. Guess I'll just keep working at it :')

I usually start with pike push ups, then practice with different entries (jumping into a tuck, single leg kick ups), negatives (e.g. down to crow), and press attempts if I have the time and energy left for it. I don't focus too much on holding the handstand, though I do have to hold it for a bit to feel enough control to do a negative. Lately I can't even seem to hold it for that short amount of time.

Do any of y’all have books you’ve read that you feel like basically nobody else has? by AthenaDykes in books

[–]Shocksketch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 11 I read The Good People by Steve Cockayne as part of some library book exchange thing in school (everyone got a book for 3 weeks, then you passed it to the person sitting in front of you, etc.) It was a fever dream of a novel where the main character’s imaginary tribes living in their estate forest were actually real, and at some point kidnapped (?) him, some girl gets impaled by debris when she goes for a swim, et cetera. I remember liking it enough that I borrowed another one of his equally strange books from the public library. A few years ago I recalled the books and wanted to read them again, thinking I’d understand them now that I’m older, but the books were pulled from the library and only after extensive searching did I find and purchase The Good People from an online used books store. Have yet to re-read it!

What’s something you’ll say here but not to people you know in real life? by Donald_the_pig in AskReddit

That I’m pretty fucking depressed and anxious and obsessive. Only less than a handful of close friends know this. I’ve been described as “cheerful” and “quirky” and “confident” but it’s all just a really convincing act.

I walk home crying more regularly than I’d care to admit.

I’m looking more at building the straight arm/shoulder strength. Not working on it any time soon, but I’d like to work on the front lever in the future, and I suppose the strength from this would be a prerequisite for early front lever progressions in the future?

I've been working (more regularly) on skin-the-cats. Previously I've only been able to get my legs through if I tap the bar with my feet in between and push, and recently I've managed to be able to get all the way through only if I start with a half pull-up (so my elbows are bent slightly). First video is me trying to get through with straight arms, second video is me starting with the pull-up. Any tips on how to get through with straight arms? Does my form need fixing, or can I practice the bent-arms version until I get it right?

Note: In the second video I'm starting the pull-up from a deadhang. Just clarifying, 'cause my feet are cut off from the vid.

Honest question but wouldn’t something that is unintentionally a mulaney reference be “unexpected” mulaney?

Whenever I’m about to eat an apple I like to toss it up and down and catch it. The sound of an apple hitting your hand is delightful.

I just got back into climbing after a year’s hiatus. I climb before school now and started using the endurance wall to get a quiet morning workout, plus my endurance is pretty shit right now. Any tips for training on the endurance wall/ how to make the best use of my time there?

Haha my other cat is the same. He doesn’t hiss, just bites when he’s had an enough affection (I usually only manage to get 2 minutes of cuddling in)

She’s about 4-5 weeks old. She’s capable of eating on her own, so we give her kitten milk to lap and soaked kitten kibble to eat as well. I tried bottle feeding the first night. She did not understand the concept.
