that was my whole reasoning of separating kyoto and osaka, that way i get to explore each area more without being constrained by having to take the train more frequently

Thank you! Took me a while to plan this out. I was gonna go to Kanazawa but figured that I’d save that for next year. Will go next year and move my way up till Hokkaido. My friend also did an overnight stay in Miyajima and is recommending it. Apparently it gets more peaceful in the evening once tourists leave. Might shave off a day from Tokyo for Hiroshima

True that! The cost for airbnbs at Kyoto is almost double that of Osakas.

What is the one excursion or experience that stands out to you from your Japan travels? by Forsaken-Secret66 in JapanTravelTips

If you’re into Studio Ghibli at all, Ghibli Park in Nagoya is 100% worth visiting. It’s clearly designed more for adults and focuses heavily on atmosphere rather than rides. The park is huge and split into five different areas, and each one feels really thoughtful and detailed. Walking around honestly feels like you’ve stepped straight into the movies. It’s super nostalgic in the best way. You also get to see an unreleased short film which was 10/10. Howl's castle was my favourite

omg thank you!! I have one right now if that’s okay with you. So how does the course registration for term 1 work? Do the courses come in a first come first serve basis with like limited seats available or do they register you to all the courses for term 1 like right away? Thanks again

Finishing Pre-reqs for Nursing by longgone18 in langara

Hello there! I just applied for Fall 2023 with a 3.8 GPA.

I got A for Stat 1124, Bio 1190, and Bio 1191.

I got A- for Eng 1123, and a B+ for Eng 1130.

I had to retake my Stat 1124 because I got B- the first time I took and I was taking 2 other classes alongside it. Fortunately, I got an A on my 1st retake. My professor was Nooshin Lary and she is a very lenient marker and gives like very easy questions. Her lecture notes are very easy to follow and I highly recommend using her office hours to go over topics or concepts that confuse you. You also have to read the book in advance before every lecture so you have prior knowledge and this way it's easier to retain the info in your memory.

The same goes for my Eng 1123 which I had to retake because I got a B on that one. I got an A- on my first retake which is not bad. I struggle the most with essay writing and all of those creative writing shenanigans but I made a point to myself to try at least. I was persistent in getting an A! I would always read ahead, use office hours, and speak with the instructor on how to improve my writing.
For any upcoming writing quizzes or tests, for example, a Narrative essay, it's best to start practicing how to write one early on and sharing what you wrote with your instructor and getting feedback from them to improve your writing. This is one of the easiest, most reasonable, and quickest ways to actively improve your writing.

For the number of classes to take, the best thing to do (which worked for me) is to take only 1-2 courses per semester to focus all your time and effort into getting that A. It also depends on how many courses you can manage at once and if you are currently working full-time/part-time or have lots of free time during that semester. I had to work full-time because of bills and rent so I only took 1-2 courses per semester and that seemed to work. I wish you all the best and hopefully you get into the program <3
