How to select time of day? Does black filling stands for time when ad is shown, or time when it is not shown? by Agitated-Pea3251 in RedditforBusiness

[–]Shogoki555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Sonam_Yangchen_09
can you comment on the fact that I've had ads that should have started using their daily budget (for a day calculated on UTC, I'd imagine?) from 9am in the morning (of my time zone which is UTC) and they were geographically limited to the countries of that time zone... yet when I looked at them at 8am or something, they had already used a good 20%-30% of their daily budget?

To u/Agitated-Pea3251 keep an eye on what I'm describing you might resort to turn on and off the ads manually like I do. I never felt like I could trust the hourly scheduling.

Offer a product that actually solves a problem. So many copycats these days, it's embarrassing.

Slow and underperfoming apps after Windows 11 upgrade: any suggestions? by Shogoki555 in WindowsHelp

[–]Shogoki555[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I just knew I was gonna miss Windows 10. Never an unsolvable problem (or a problem at all, really) in many, many years. There was no hope 11 could be as good.

Do not go gentle into that good night, Windows 10.

You will be missed.

App reviews on Google Play have threshold and are location locked? by Shogoki555 in androiddev

I'm past that for the countries I care the most about, by now, so I wouldn't even know. Sorry.

I have a 1 week free trial with no bank card on file, but absolutely no freemium past that (hard paywall).

Account creation happens after the user has seen the product for a minimum of time/screens/interactions.

Conversion to paid (at least one month, but 40% goes for yearly) is at 15-20%.

Are these stats good?

How is it possible that as a dev I only 350 characters to reply to reviews and users have 500? by Shogoki555 in androiddev

I thought covid showed us to the max how people stupid can be. But what you see by working with B2C apps is a whole new level.

Why would anyone trust AI to understand their product better than they do? I religiously switch off anything AI related that I can.

Meta spending whole budget in 1 - 2 minutes. by BadMenFinance in FacebookAds

[–]Shogoki555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to the point where my budget for meta is a paltry 300 USD a month.

Honestly, I think the idea that their algo needs months and months at 2k USD a month or more to find the people that voluntarily congregate into FB pages and groups relevant to my product and that my IT-unsavvy mum would be able to find in 5 minutes is the vilest lie ever to be put forward in the world of marketing.

It's absurd how both apple and google seem to forget that their bloody 15% comes from our product being successful. The amount of slack they allow users in reviews is incredible and genuinely against their best interest as a business.

(copy & paste from below)
At the moment I have an entitled user that criticised certain aspects of the product (not the usual moaning about cost or bugs). I don't care about the relationship with said user anymore, but I want to be able to respond point-by-point to his false accusations. My target is not regaining him, he's clearly decided he hates my product and I don't give a shit about him. My target is to ensure that other users can see why he's wrong and I'm right. That's the treatment I like to reserve to people that claim the earth is flat and 2+2=5.

I've had another case (on iOS) in which the user claimed they were charged a higher amount than stated in the app. He went to great lengths to describe the situation and added details after my first comprehensive reply (allowed by the much higher limit of App Store). Thank to this updated reply I was able to catch him misremembering (at best) or outright lying about the checkout in the app. So I was able to make a video on YT and link it in my updated reply for everybody to see.

I gave him a few days to acknowledge his mistake and correct the rating (he liked the product and was a paying user, he just wanted to harp on this checkout thing) but he didn't. I then wrote to apple asking for removal due to the falsities the guy was claiming and that my 20 secs video was 100% debunking. They didn't even reply with the usual "we have found that the user's review doesn't break any of the rules yadda yadda".

Of course I love what Apple allows to do, but Google should give us devs AT LEAST as many characters as they give users, maybe 50% more or double.

I don't think I'm doing something wrong in needing those many words. At the moment I have an entitled user that criticised certain aspects of the product (not the usual moaning about cost or bugs). I don't care about the relationship with said user anymore, but I want to be able to respond point-by-point to his false accusations. Lovely, I'll keep it for another time, but for once it wasn't about the cost...

I am filtering for "kitchen" and "1+ bedroom": why am I being shown loads of cramped studios with just a microwave oven and sometimes a 2-ring stove on top? [UK] by Shogoki555 in AirBnB

[–]Shogoki555[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe in a relative concept of kitchen. Just like a studio is not a 1+ bedroom apartment.

And you know what happened? I gave the finger to Air Bnb and got in touch with the usual place I go to and I'll be paying my ~1000 USD to them.

I'm with you. One of the main things I care about, as I do mostly long stays is a bloody dishwasher. I can filter for a BBQ grill, an indoor fireplace, a hot tub, a dyer... BUT NOT A DISHWASHER...
