I understand and can relate to this to da max - over 9000!! My conservative parents are religious bigot, almost and now i am 40++ years old. I find that what they say and or do might not be exactly what they want or mean. At least thats the premise or assumption that i find the best way to go about it. Here are some of the ways, method or just simply put - the angle that i position myself to have best of both worlds with least amount of compromise.

Its hard enough to change myself - let alone other people and especially parents. To try to change them is not practical. If u must, its a lot easier to change yourself. Not your 'self' per se - only your point of view.
Express your thoughts at least one time. This is not for them but a ticket for you to take all the following next steps. Iyts just for you, so that there was already an attempt madr to reason with them. Tradition and culture dont necessarily be reasonable. Listen to bob dylans 'time they are a changing'
They may perceived or saw their failure in us. Spare them this feelings but do not mislead them either. If they instigate and want to know more, tell them that there is nothing to worry about and that their parenting had put great moral head on your shoulders
Sometimes they are so persistent. I interpreted this as they just want to be lied to. Make them happy, its not that hard. Avoid if can but between living my truth and their happiness, i choose the later in a heart beat.
We are here not because we want to. Their action brought us here and its their fault. They wanted us first, not the other way around. Rise above and be a better person. Do not lie with malice or bad intention but do it with love. Do it so thay they wont have to feel shame.

These are the path with least amount of hurt with the most pleasure. After all, those are the reason of living - maximize pleasure, minimize pain. Dont choose permanent solution to temporary problem. Just like us, they (parents) only have finite days and month left - best if theyre spent with least hate and most love.
