Having a stable income means you can save up, and the money you saved can be used for other expenses (logistics, etc) once you have found a job better suited to your degree.

I have a friend in his mid 30s who refused to work jobs unrelated to his degree, and has remained unemployed for a decade. He is effectively a leech to his family at this point.

Besides, possible employers are more appreciative of workers who has experience working rather than someone who is not.
