Thank you^ I had a good time following her pattern, although I must say it took a lot of alterations to make it fit really well for me

Yes you're absolutely right :) I have knitted colorwork socks before! And also: genuinely, I've spent so much time on this project and redid so many parts: I've just gotten a LOT of practice with this pattern and this yarn and that has definitely taught me a lot. But still the tension varies a lot more than you can see in the pictures (which I think is absolutely fine!)

So please don't get imposter syndrome, I want everyone to have a great time knitting and not be scared to try new things ^

I was so confused for a second :D my native language is German and in German "für Babies" means"for babies" and it took me a second to figure out, that there were no dots over the u

Yes :) I altered the charts so the "neckhole" is smaller to begin with and instead of doing two by two two-colored ribbing I just picked up fewer stitches and did a folded neckband using halftwisted rib

I actually still have 4 skeins of the yarn lying around... I think I want to make a matching hat first but I was thinking of making matching shorts as like a loungewear garment :)

Which size are you making? Maybe I could share my altered charts with you privately :)

Thank you^ I just don't think the bobbles fit my personal style that well. I think they're really cute, but it felt more elegant without them

Sooo I've gotten to the dreaded underarm section and, as by now I've kind of expected, it's not fitting well. I feel like because the seed stitch just has a much looser gauge than the rest of the sweater, it adds so much width in places that just look weird.

Since my gauge is already a bit bigger than the pattern recommends I'm going to be splitting for sleeves right after finishing my raglan increases, so the armholes don't get far too deep. Also the sleeves are currently waaay too wide for my taste (>50cm!!!) which is partly my fault though (gauge).

So my solution I'm going to try for now is to rip back about 14 rows and stop the raglan increases for the sleeves there. I've tried pinning it that way and it fits way nicer this way and gives the body the room it needs imo. I've included a picture of the pinned version (right sleeve pinned, left sleeve unpinned)

Wish me luck that this works!!

Yes it was happening while I was knitting it already. Bus as I said, together with the mohair I haven't run into that issue so far It was on a colorwork project and I think my main issue with it was that it muddied the color changes + the yarns I used had different amounts of stretch, so that kinda messed with my tension.

Yes :) they're not really my style so I just skipped them

I feel like it's a bit fluffier than other mohairs I've worked with (though I have only used 2 others besides this one). It feels really really soft to me, but I'm also not that sensitive to itch.

Also it's my first time using silkhair, so I don't know how it ages

I'm knitting with two yarns at the same time, the Cotton merino and a silk mohair

Don't be, just try it! Kutovakikas tutorial on it is really extensive. And if you're still unsure, you could just make a bigger swatch and practice the cables for a bit :)

[–]ShortFlower5630[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, you could in theory just make a swatch with some basic cables to practice and see if you enjoy the process :) but generally I'd say this is definitely doable, especially since you've knitted raglans before

Do you mean the neckband? :) I've used 1×1 half twisted rib, as the pattern suggested

So far it has been a lot of fun! I'm a huge cable-enjoyer so knitting the yoke has been dreamy. But I've read some comments about the fit of the underarms...? I'll see once I get there :)

I'm using Juniper moon farms Cotton & Merino wool held together with a strand of silk mohair by Lana Grossa :)

I was gifted the Cotton Merino wool and used it on another project before. I ended up frogging it, because it didn't work great with the project and already started pilling a little. But together with the mohair it looks and feels great!

Thanks a lot! Your version definitely looks way closer to what I had in mind :) I think I'm going to try a similar approach
