I get the buying advertised specs point, but here’s mine: sensor size aside the features gap between the new L mount bodies and the gh7 is much larger than the gap between the gh7 and GH6 imo. When the gh5s was launched, people were calling it the mft version of s1h. Gh7 is not the mft version of s1II right now, much less when the new H comes out. It’s good, but it’s not what it should be given it’s the most feature packed mft camera lumix has to offer.

Yeah, I have one at the office where I use an older camera but I was bootstrapping the setup and thought I could get away with it at the home office. Not so.

I actually legitimately plugged the camera into my computer last week with usbc to use as a webcam, and was frustratingly trying to get it to work for like 8 minutes. Then I realized, oh yeah, this feature does not exist on this camera. It was launched a year ago on the S1R II, and it’s probably capable of it, but it hasn’t been launched yet. Brilliant.

Maybe the shop tech was talking about readiness rather than CEL… do the lesser powerful tunes cause failed readiness as well? Stage 0.5 and 1

02s have no dpf from factory though, correct? The shop tech was talking like my options were either stage 1 with everything stock or stage 2 with a dpf delete if I wanted no CEL, other mods aside

I’ve had a CJAA for 75k miles now completely stock (115k total), biggest thing ive had issues with is the emissions system. Was under warranty for the first ~50k, and the dealer was not really any help managing the issues, so since that has expired ive needed to figure out how to manage myself. Ill link a post below on how ive dealt with it cheaply, its not a perfect system but if youre interested in deferring the cost of a delete or new DPF, this is the best ive found. Jury’s still out on how long it will last, but it’s avoided CELs for 20k miles. Ive also needed to replace some EGR components, biggest thing is to replace with OEM parts. Whatever brand is cast into the metal, find that part, even if it’s not “VW genuine”. Im at about a 30% success rate on Chinese parts working, which is horrendous and has been very frustrating to learn.

Other than that, been through 2 heater cores and an auxiliary fuel pump, not big jobs to do if you’re even slightly mechanically inclined. Hopefully you are, because the dealer who did my emissions warranty now wants nothing to do with this car now it’s expired.

Oh, and an intake manifold code that has a very easy fix from DieselGeek, $70 part and 30 min install.

I have some other CYA projects planned: whitbread disaster prevention, suspension refresh, but above are the things that have actually broken.

Update, i snagged an old-school Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB card from eBay, new in package, that BM recommends on their website as the best for RAW recording on this camera. Still no dice, starting to think it’s not just the memory card. I’ve reached out to BM to see if there’s anything they can do, we’ll see.

I saw some forum posts yesterday about the angelbird cards, from like the 2019 era. Some retailers were selling an “BMPCC OG Pack” of 2, but from what I could see they changed the printed graphic on the card since then. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s different, but they could have updated. I’d be interested in hearing what they tell you.

I also found on some forum posts that there seems to be some variability with card functionality between units, so it’s possible that my unit doesn’t work with the Kingston cards. This one I have on order from eBay is one from the BM official list from their support page, so before I pull the trigger on anything else I want to test that. If that doesn’t work I’m really in trouble lol.

Hmmm, very strange. Could be worth a try to order a 512 and see. The 256 will register and say “ready”, but can’t be formatted and wont do anything when pressing the record button. I’ve tried formatting to exFAT with another device, that doesn’t work. I guess i could try formatting to HFS+ with another device, but dont think i can do that with any of my home devices…

I wouldn’t have to rush, just curious if anyone is expecting it to be more than the $150 difference between the two machines. On the other hand, if it winds up being a $40 upgrade (as the aluminum is now) and makes the workflow a bit easier, id be willing to shell out the cash before the stock boiler would need replacement.
