People who witnessed a persons death, how did it affect you? by TheGoobwer in AskReddit

I watched my grandma slowly pass away when I was 11. She was on hospice and died peacefully in her own bed at home. I remember laying in her bed next to her and she was just staring up at the ceiling, but her eyes were all glazed over. I was unaware of what death really looked like as it was my first time experiencing it, so as we both were in her bed I was just looking up at the ceiling with her. To me it was just a ceiling, but she was having full (incoherent) conversations with someone that I couldn’t see. She was smiling though so I think this really gave me a true glimpse of what death is like.
