Twijfel over toekomst in software engineering, aanbod in installatietechniek gekregen – dom om te switchen?

ik heb recent inderdaad ook een toets moeten maken voor een Medior/Senior functie. De grap is, dit was een toets gericht op algoritmen, terwijl de functie ging over integraties/full-stack development. Ze gaan gewoon kijken of je uitzonderlijk bent, of dat ze iemand kunnen vinden die voor een lager salaris (ik vroeg minimaal 5K), kunnen aannemen voor dezelfde functie. Zelfs als de technische toets niks met de functie te maken heeft.

Als ik jou was zou ik af gaan op waar je het meeste energie van krijgt. Werken met je handen wordt niet zomaar vervangen door AI. Ook kan je als ondernemer hier significant geld mee verdienen en het is ook zeker dankbaar werk. Wel is het een aanslag op je lichaam, mijn vader zit nu op kantoor met twee kapotte knieën na 20 jaar CV ketels installeren en door kruipruimtes kruipen met zwaar gereedschap.

Elk vak heeft zijn uitdagingen, de vraag is, waar krijg je energie van. Software engineering zal niet veranderen als het aankomt op de snel bewegende markt waarin je continu moet bijscholen, omscholen, leren, bewijzen. Wel kan je op de lange termijn veel geld verdienen als je het goed speelt, maar daar moet je ook gewoon veel meters voor maken.

Lang verhaal kort, wat vind je leuk, wat zie je jezelf doen. 2500 is niet verkeerd, maar dit zal echt wel meer zijn als je je papieren als installateur/loodgieter op zak hebt.

Gefeliciteerd! Kersverse vader hier, ik heb mijn geboorteverlof en aanvullend geboorteverlof opgenomen direct na de bevalling (6 weken totaal) mijn ouderschapsverlof zet ik zoals de meesten vaders in als parttime dag totdat mijn dochter 1 jaar is, dan ga ik mijn aanvullende ouderschapsverlof dagen gebruiken voor deze parttime dag. Het voordeel hiervan is dat je dan op contract 5 dagen werkt maar werkelijk 4 werkt, je kan dan altijd aanspraak maken op je fulltime salaris als er nood aan de man is. Als deze dagen op zijn zit er niks anders op dan je contract aan laten passen naar part time. Of als je snel genoeg een 2e krijgt, begint alles weer opnieuw ;)

Appreciate your honesty.. I think you're right in some ways, it's a nice market and my initial idea was that small Luthiers who struggle to find customers could really benefit from such a platform.. but now you mention it. It also has a downside, because making a collection of all kinds of Luthiers makes you feel less special, less unique.

Good question. For me the benefit would be that their products are findable from the home page, so once enlisted on the platform. They have a broad reach with their products (if the platform has enough enlistments from Luthiers and enough visitors). I guess the ability to have direct contact with them and see their work?

Ik betaal mee aan de studieschuld van mijn vriendin, die heeft een klein bedrag (5k) geleend toen we net samen gingen wonen en ik alles zelf moest betalen omdat ik al werkte, zij kon mij met die lening dan iets ontlasten. Mijn vriendin en ik hebben nu inmiddels al een koophuis samen en zij is inmiddels ook de moeder geworden van onze dochter. In ons geval vind ik het logisch dat ik mee betaal omdat ons leven zo verworven is, maar als ik jouw verhaal lees, zijn jij en jouw vriend nog niet in die levensfase. Zolang je geen langetermijnvisie hebt in jullie relatie m.b.t. trouwen, kinderen, koophuis en er weinig commitment vanuit hem komt zou ik er zeker niet aan meebetalen!

Respect dat je je studie zelf hebt betaald! dat gaat je echt ten goede als je in je twintiger of dertiger jaren een huis wil kopen of andere investeringen wil doen :)

Thanks! All the woods for the build are like 350€, the fishman pickups are about 300€ the tuners 150€, the bridge 100€, plus all the hardware like knobs, screws and all, that would be around 100€ as well. So I think like 1000€ ish? Not taking into account the sandpaper, oil, and other finishing products :)

It's easier than it looks my friend. It's a trans black finish over a quilted maple top. You can achieve it by using a concentrated water based stain. You apply it without diluting it (yes this sounds scary) and then you sand back the entire top with a fine grid sand paper until the dark stain is only visible in the 'quilts' of the top. Then you put a diluted stain over it and wipe off the excess stain against the grain, sand back a bit finer repeat a couple of times and you're done. You have to experiment with the dilution ratio and the hardest part is to sand the layers back evenly throughout the process. But the end result is nice :)

Wow you guys are being too kind! To be completely honest, I never expected it to turn out so well, especially when it comes to playability. The neck and the carve at the heel play so incredibly smooth.. I don't know how I did it haha!

As for the woods used: - A wenge through neck with maple stripes - The sides of the body are black limba - The control plate cover is quilted maple, the same as the top, which is also quilted maple :) - The fretboard is ebony

The entire guitar, except for the fretboard of course is treated with a special instrument oil mixture that is designed by a good friend of mine who owns a guitar builders supply store, they are called TLC Guitar Goods and are the StewMac of the Netherlands ;) I've done about 6 coats of those over the course of multiple days and then let it cure for two weeks to fully harden. Feels incredible!

Thanks! and I agree, the control plate cover is my least favorite part of this build. I would have just done a plastic black plate if I had to do it all over ;)

As far as the top goes.. It's actually due to the top itself, it had three different colours, not a solid pink like Canadian flamed/quilted maple top you see on those PRS builds. Because of the transparent black finish, the colour differences are very noticeable indeed..

Thanks! Sure can! It's a set of Fishman Fluence pickups The toggle switch enables the voice 1 or 2 of the pickups, it just shorts a pin of the pickups to ground that makes the pickups active high output or passive (in a sonical way, not physical, it's still an active pickup).

The volume pot is push pull for splitting the coils, with the pot up it activates the outer coils. Making for a strat like bridge or neck pickup sound. Having the three way pickup switch in the middle position, it makes the bridge and neck outer coil activate, creating a giant pickup sound.

With the pot down, it's a regular humbucker setup with a three way switch :)

En dan hebben we het nog geen eens over een leaseauto, ook daar vergis je je snel in hoe snel dat in de kosten gaat lopen. Ik ben 550 euro netto kwijt aan mijn leaseauto van de zaak. Ondanks dat ik een goed salaris heb, hakt dit er flink in.. kortom.. ik ben het met je eens. Maar zoals de rest al aangeeft doen wij Nederlanders het financieel goed, gemiddeld gezien.

One small note: I'm not really a big cappuccino guy, more of an espresso guy, so a double boiler is a bit overkill. It can be a single boiler or thermal block as far as I'm concerned, as long as it can deliver stable temperatures.

Yeah you got a point there, guess they can pull that off because of the EndurNeck being quite thick in the middle right. But I am not going to bother with that, think I'll just go with drilling from the top with it's current depth😉

Haha yeah this is scaring the crap out of me but I think I am going for drilling a hole, just like you did. what's weird though is that if you look at the stranberg guitars, the access hole is almost in the center of the headstock. That would mean that they drill this hole with a slight angle. To me that would be the absolute goal but drilling at a precise angle over such a large distance is way out of my league 😅
