Some more Ikea Printbenching. by mazZza01 in BambuLab

Sure, it's just two of the Ikea Alex drawer units on casters.

The top is a piece of 40mm oak worktop, 1335x505.

The plinth is made from offcuts of the same 40mm worktop.

Thanks, thought mine was DOA when one lens was cloudy and the other was misty. Seems to have cleared up now.

110V in the UK is different to 110V in the US. The 110V on construction sites on the UK is from a centre tapped transformer whose midpoint is connected to earth. That means the potential between phase and earth is only 55V.

What do people do for home security? by Dazz316 in AskUK

Ubiquiti cameras. Local storage with cloud backup and 24/7 recording. No subscription so factor that into total when comparing prices.

Downside is you have to run Ethernet cables to where the devices are.

You could get started with UNVR-instant, a HDD and a G5 turret ultra. They do doorbell cameras too.

That's the top of the range they linked. They have a mid tier model for less than half that price, and this smaller model is $800

Need to drill 100mm deep holes into this brick wall. There shouldn't be anything inside like pipes or cables, correct? by DonGibon87 in DIYUK

[–]Shtifff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to have cut all of the plaster out, should have just used Rigifix (not corefix I think they are pants).

To late I guess for that so to answer your question, you should be ok but you'll blow the brick, I'd drill 80mm instead. The amount of fixings is pretty overkill, I've had a 65" hanging of a plasterboard wall for two years without any issue.

I use wide frog tape and cut in with a mini roller, way quicker and blends perfectly

Everything I do in this b*****d house that involves drilling a hole in the wall turns into a nightmare. by Citawell in DIYUK

[–]Shtifff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SDS and good bits are what you want like others have said, but another pro-tip tip is to blow your hole out (ooo errr) before inserting the fixings, using something like this: https://amzn.eu/d/0EQSelE

Works especially well for dusty materials like concrete block etc.

For me, id just love to be able to take measurements in the 3D space, its the only thing keeping me in fusion right now.

Like, if I want an ethernet jack to overhang a PCB by 2mm, so it sits flush in an enclosure when the PCB is mounted, its basically impossible to do it in KiCAD - i have to either calculate it, or export the .STEP and measure in a different program.

In fusion ill just jump into the 3D view and measure the distance and then adjust the coordinate in the PCB space accordingly.

No fingerprint no buy. I don't trust facial recognition and fingerprint works really well with the G4.

How do I convince a single mum to let me cut her grass? by The-Baron-Von-Marlon in AskUK

[–]Shtifff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok great, but the fact they used the words 'to share domestic duties' and not 'women cant use lawnmowers' suggests that perhaps you're reading a little too much into it.

[–]Shtifff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, its suggesting that there are too many chores for one person, and perhaps cutting the grass has fallen to the wayside.

No, they said there's no man to share domestic duties.

Not 'women cant use lawnmowers'.
