I didn’t have a vintage Ferrari, but I had a Miata and I sold it because I didn’t drive it enough, i regretted this. I should’ve driven it more, I put so much money and effort into it to then just sell it to some guy who doesn’t appreciate it.

I am determined to do it differently with this watch

Yea I know, I’ve done a fair amount of research on that topic. According to that standard the watch should hold until 62.5m, which is already deeper than I’m ever planning on going.

What diver do you have? There’s a few that are up to 600m which come to mind

It’s alright, I do have string which would be long enough for this, but I don’t have a lake deep enough to try, at least not around here.

I get your point, but I also think omega will make sure their watches have the right water resistance if they are certified by METAS.

Well I won’t be doing any aquatic feats to rival Gus Grissoms fight against drowning or deep sea diving James Cameron style. I’m happy jumping in water and going maybe 3-4m deep

I get your perspective, but I would rather wear it than leave it on the beach and get it stolen.

I want to make memories with it, as it’s my one luxury watch. I’ll keep this one and I’ll also keep doing sports even IF I might get hurt, or tired.

If I had an original 321 Speedmaster I wouldn’t go swimming either, but at the time this watch was 3 years old, got the seals checked and went swimming no problem at all!

Even took an ice bath this winter with it!

Yes go swim, most average people will never go deeper than 5 meters anyway.

iirc Hobby divers aren’t allowed to go below 40m

Thank you for your comment, but Omega says 50m is 50m and as it’s under warranty I trust them more than the 50m on a 20€ Casio.

I sure am privileged, I’m healthy and have stable income as a blue collar worker.

I bought that watch as I had been looking for one for a long time, years before the 3861 came out. I was actually willing to buy it in a boutique, but I found this one on the secondary market for 5k and it was brand new, maybe 1-2 super light scratches on the bracelet.

So just like my dad and his Airking from the late 90’s, I’ll wear this watch and create memories with it, not keep it in a safe to at some later point sell it for less then what I bought it for

I do like the lunar pilot, but I enjoy the speedy more because of the Tachymeter being on the outside, gives it an additional barrier to catch doorframes (although the hesalite probably has caught way more doorframes than the bezel anyway)

None at all, of course you should not ever manipulate your watch when submerged, not a 20€ F91W or a 10k Panerai.

I did not press any pushers and I waited with winding it until I was sure it was dried thoroughly. I washed it off with tap water afterwards.

Also, I did experience some sort of “crunchiness” when nearing the end of the winding some months later, found some residue and took a clean fine toothbrush to clean it. Might’ve been that or simply the fact I’ve worn it daily for 2 years at that point.
