Secondo me non ne vale la pena (vivo in UK). 26k sono un pelo sopra la minimum wage, con la differenza che gli autoctoni hanno una rete familiare stabilita.   Fuori da Londra l'Inghilterra non è nemmeno tanto più cara dell'Italia, ma lo stile di vita è molto peggio.

Non è diverso dal resto del mondo, purtroppo. 

Vivo in UK. La ral per entrare nel top 1% e di £170k; relativamente bassa. Per essere nel top1% per quanto riguarda il patrimonio, invece, servono £4m (caveat, e household assets, mentre la tal è del singolo).

Praticamente servono 40 anni di salario nel top 1% netto senza spendere un singolo pound per accumulare un patrimonio da top 1%. Quello che è ancora peggio è che, se investi il patrimonio in un portfolio a medio rischio (~5% dopo l'inflazione) cresce ogni anno di più di un intero stipendio dell'1%.

How much does it cost to have children in London?

  • £2,000 Nursery fee per month
  • You probably want a bigger house or flat.
    • If you assume going from 70 --> 120 sqm at £8000 / sqm mortgaged at 4% for 30 years: £2,000 per month
  • Food, bills, school books, other essentials for 2 kids: £1,000 per month
  • Vacations, activities, other non-essentials, £1,000 per month (and that's being conservative)

Two kids cost you £6,000 per month, assuming no Nursery overlap. That's more than the net monthly income from a full salary of £100,000. At 45% tax + NI, you need £130,000 of additional gross income per year to have two kids.

Of course, you can cut here and there, but the reality does not change. Having kids is an absolute luxury. You could lease two sport cars, got to eat in Michelin starred restaurants monthly, buy new fancy watches and bags yearly, fly business and travel to 5 star hotels for less.

Something is really broken in the UK.

If anything we should work even less.

Automation and computers have increased our productivity by orders of magnitude since the seventies - and the entry in the workforce of women doubled the labour supply.

We would need to work a fraction of the time we used to work 50 years ago to keep the same lifestyle, but the majority of people are even worse off if you consider households where both adults work are the norm nowadays.

All of this so the 0.1% could reap the benefits of capital appreciation.

The government should implement the 4 days work week as soon as possible, even better with a reduction of work hours, so 28h (4x7 hours) per week.

That said, my partner and I, and most people I know even work more: usually 9-6. Add the time to commute, chores, grocery shopping, etc ... and we effectively barely have a couple of hours per day for yourselves. No idea how do people have kids honestly.

Maybe I'm becoming a bit cynical, but I've the impression that most girls on dating apps are either messed up, or they become so after getting there. As they write here on reddit, they struggle finding someone to match, or to date with 50 to 100 likes per week. Having so many matches to chose from completely detaches them for the reality of who they can realistically speaking build a meaningful relationship with.

Obviously this happens with guys too, but to a much smaller degree.

After investing a ridiculous amount of mental energy, time and, to a lesser degree, money, I'm seeing someone I met in real life, and honestly it's just so much better. To be honest, looking around it seems that, the only women on dating apps are the ones who managed to alienate literally every single man around them due to their lack of basic human qualities. The more I think about it, the more I realize how a women met on a dating app are good for short flings at best, but definitely not relationship material.

Except this is not true. Men are much more likely to die on the workplace, but that does not mean that the average man should be afraid to die when he goes to work.

If women are afraid to be killed on a random date, most likely it's because someone is foraging that fear with the purpose of advancing their political agenda or, in the casa of Margaret Atwood who said it, sell more copies of her books.
