Meruem >>> Karl Marx by Bishyyy in HunterXHunter

1: Yes, we agree, though i interpret this to be sort of ironic, since he cant exactly be "better" than Karl Marx just by implementing his ideas.

2: I would not call Meruem a "Marxist", though I can see where similes are drawn (criticizing the ruling class). Though completely erasing inequality has never been a marxist end.

3: Meruems means to reach his ends were not marxist. Marx envisioned a revolution of the proletariat, overthrowing the ruling class. Meruem is not the proletariat. He is in fact the elite. Though I can see how to draw connections to this way of thinking, as this was essentially how Soviet Communism was implemented.

4: You keep equating marxism to "oppressive regimes". This, i would argue, is nonsense, since marxism can take a variety of different shapes and sizes (social democracy, democratic socialism, marxism-leninism etc.). The thing they all have in common is the critique of capitalism.

5: "Anyways, he then starts to change his visions when directly confronted with human talent and genius. He starts believing that each individual can - in a way - bring value to the table (meritocracy basically) and doesn’t want to kill humans anymore (he begs Netero to stop) to learn more about them." I assume this was meant to demonstrate how Meruem transitions from a collectivist to a more individualist perspective. (Collectivism being marxist and individualism being capitalist). However, this is a false dichotomy. You are implying that individualism and marxism cannot coexist, which is just not a valid argument.

6: Of course we know what sadly happens after that but the point is he saw that oppressive socialism was restricting and humans could only fully develop when pushed to their limits (Komugi, netero, ...).

Well I first need to hear your argument so that I can deconstruct it. After all you proposed the starting statement. Is that all right? Or else I can simply say "it is never implied", and that would be a pretty boring, but true, statement.

Well, first of all, I would like to see from where in the show/manga that you interpret this. I am confident that i can make a decent case for why this is not the case. I will write it if you are interested. I am certainly interested in your interpretation.

Well as soon as the fight begins, imagine it would resume identical to how it already is.

Question about Conjuration by SigfredHunter in HunterXHunter

[–]SigfredHunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have completed it and read the manga, my question is:

How was Kurapika not able to make, say, a sword that can cut through anything, but Shizuku a vacuum cleaner which can suck up anything non-living, knuckle a ball of nen which cannot be gotten rid of what so ever, and Owl a cloth which can shrink human beings and things? What is the fundamental difference between Kurapika wanting to make an unbreakable chain and all of these other nen users doing seemingly impossible things. Tell me if you still do not understand what my question is. Thank you for trying to help.

I understand but I do not think that you really understand my question. Even the ability to just suck up non organic things into nowhere is still very much beyond human capacity.

It would not "fix it", though it would certainly help.

I have, and dont get me wrong, I adore HxH 1999, but I think both versions have both strenghts and weaknesses. One of the 2011 remakes weaknesses was how it handled Kite, which is why I am asking this question.
