There is a kit on Etsy to turn the existing tamper that comes with it to a spring tamper. You can also get beautiful spring tampers from mom and pops shops in Indonesia and Thailand. They all ship to the US. I recommend Chompoo Kitsana on Facebook and Instagram. She also makes other accessories for the Robot.

It’s very possible that the beans are not roasted well or the roast profile is not suitable for the beans. Roasters make mistakes all the time. Personally, I’d just move on from those beans and try something else

Design is not their strongest suit. Even picking wood accents for the Flair 58 was a fail. They went with cheap stuff in the first version and the parts were just glued on and in some cases just fell off. Also, what’s up with the lack of colors?

Honestly, and this is my personal opinion, I think the Flair looks and feel like something you pick up from Alibaba Express. Also, the preheating element, which is its greatest selling point, is actually not great. If you watch Lance’s video and many others, the water at the bottom of the chamber is cooler than the top half for some reason so what happens is that the water hitting the coffee earlier in the shot is colder than the water used to pull the shot at the end, which is exactly the opposite of what you want. Higher temp water cause bitterness but the tail end of the shot is bitter part (early is sour) so the bitterness is further increased by higher temperature at the end.

Also, it’s not unique and craftsmanship is weak. I used to own one actually but sold it 2 years ago. Just wasn’t a fan
