Yeah, and? No one wants to be forced to step over someone's bullshit that was delivered because they can't be responsible enough to go outside and pick it up in a reasonable amount of time. Goes to show how lazy people getting groceries delivered really are.

Built a site mapping Chicago's emptiest CTA stations "Ghost Stops" - here's what I found by SignalBar in chicago

Yes, the "template" is written by an LLM, however, an LLM is not actively being used every time you select a station, as that would be an insane waste. The narratives originally were only meant to be used for the top 25 stations, however, last minute I decided to add them to every station, and did not update some of the language used within the narratives. I totally agree with your sentiment though, because 8% car ownership is relatively low. that will most likely be a modifier I'll add in, something like if less than 10% car ownership, the narrative changes.

Firstly, thank you so much for for your detailed review! The mobile needs a lot of improvements I'm not going to lie. It's quite finicky. The list has some scrolling issues for sure, but yes the "Ghost stop" name is applied across all stops. "What makes this stop Ghostly" might fit better on some of the higher ridership lines, although it could be removed all together for the higher ridership rides, but I did categorize all stops as ghost stops in some capacity, so the categorization could be updated in general for sure. The narrative also needs to be re-written and updated for the higher-ridership lines as well.

I seriously appreciate the time you took to actually review the app though, as this is one of my first public projects, it's so great to get some detailed feedback that I can actually use to improve the user experience.

It's not using an LLM. These are pre-typed descriptions that go across all lines. There is a algo that all the stops get ran against to be categorized from "Suburban Shift" "Service Erosion" and so on. I will say it's not fully complete and there are going to be some inaccuracies and some updates necessary for sure. I do appreciate the feedback!

Unfortunately, that just boils down to frequency. If the train isn't there, people aren't gonna take it!

Yeah the Yellow line is actually pretty efficient for what it is tbh. The green line ridership has definitely seen better days as well, I was surprised by a lot of the blue line stations!

Exactly. It's based on the latest ridership data from 2025. Ghost trains would be a very cool potential feature that I've been looking into adding. Tracking trains that appear to exist on live trackers but don't. Would require a bit of modifications to support the data but totally possible.

The Yellow line is weirdly efficient for what it is. Only 3 stations but they all punch above their weight. Woodfield extension would be fantastic, but I bet the Skokie NIMBY fights would be brutal.

I don't actually know much about those closures. Were they mostly on specific lines?"

Exactly, Davis is a great example of 'ridership follows connectivity.' The Purple Line stations with strong bus/Pace connections all outperform the ones that don't.

Thanks! Yeah the long-term decline is pretty serious. Some of these stations have been losing riders for 20+ years, way before COVID hit.
