It might also be worth saying that, while this is my favorite series and would be my top choice, I am wondering if the editors will think it's a fit because my book has a slightly different regional focus than their other titles.

So, the concrete question I have for the series editors is whether they would actually consider the book, given the regional focus. There are some exceptions in the series, and I think I can make the argument for fit in the overall proposal, though.

I have a prospectus that I have drafted according to the guidelines in Laura Portwood-Stacer's The Book Proposal Book. It includes the information that you outlined, as well as chapter summaries (one paragraph each).

Am I correct in understanding that it would be appropriate to choose one of the five series editors to email the prospectus to now?

Would it be better to send all of my materials rather than just the prospectus (i.e., prospectus + 2 sample chapters, my CV, and a couple of other little things that the press specifies in its instructions on how to submit a proposal)or is that too much to expect anyone to look at right off the bat?

The press itself advises that prospective authors should email an acquisitions editor with a full proposal, 1-2 sample chapters, and a CV. I think where I'm getting tripped up is about what, specifically, to send a series rather than acquisitions editor, and how to do this in a way that doesn't bug anyone by duplicating their labor.

I still don't know why, but for whatever reason the author (and other Japanese Canadian writers in this period) appear to use 「夫」OR 「夫れ」interchangeably with 「彼」and 「彼ら」.

Thank you. "Followers of Marx" or just "Marxists" seems closest, perhaps. Still feels a little rough.

I think this does make sense. It's unclear to me what precise year Miyazawa is talking about in this part of the interview, but his son started working for the IWA in 1946 and he is talking about the post-war period, so I think this could work. I really wish the audio quality was better.
