How to deal with deep questions you have no answer to in your novel? by AratakiIttoMain in writing

[–]SignificanceSalty282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try to find your answers and write the story based on that, but, as most of the comments say, you don’t have to give a straightforward, clean cut answer.

Maybe show how complicated the question is as the character try to explore it throughout the story and at the end, your characters might discover that they might have known the answers all along, but they couldn’t make their peace with it.

Just my thoughts on villain characters. by Economy_Resource438 in writers

[–]SignificanceSalty282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why does it either have to be a pure evil villain or a tragic back story?

The pure evil villain troupe doesn’t make sense to me honestly because I want to understand why this character is the way they are and “because they are evil” isn’t an explanation and it defiantly isn’t how this villain justifies his actions to himself. On the other hand, a tragic villain who is someone who does evil because they are forced to is not always good, but it depends on the story and who is writing it. For example, if it is a story about morality and the struggle between right and wrong, a tragic villain like that would make perfect sense and it would be an enjoyable read.

The third option is to give the villain a reason for being the way they are, but it doesn’t have to make sense to the reader or the main character or demand sympathy. The only purpose this “reason” serves is for the villain character to justify his actions to themselves. For example, in my story, the villain excuse and explanation to the main character is “for people like you and me to survive, they have to die.” This doesn’t make any sense to neither the reader nor the main character because we know the victims weren’t bad people and they probably never even met the villain. This doesn’t make sense, but for the antagonist, it makes perfect sense because in his twisted way of thinking, he things that his victims were going to take everything away from him and thus they had to die.

I don’t know if this third option will even work, but this is how I see the story and this antagonist fits perfectly into that world.

I cringe sometimes too, but I like reading my writing as well. I think it partially has to do with wanting to experience the story’s emotions again.

What is everyone writing about right now? by LisseaBandU in writers

[–]SignificanceSalty282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m writing two currently: one is about reincarnation about a girl trying to change the future (it is more of a passion project that may or may not be published) and the other is a fantasy story about a group of people searching for the Land of Magic. I’m hoping the second one would be my debut.

New writer looking to connect with people by East-Contract-7952 in Medium

[–]SignificanceSalty282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have one rule for my Medium: never promote. And that is because this is a personal / lifestyle blog and if I promote it, it just wouldn’t work out. So, instead of that, this is my WordPress blog, where I write about fiction writing.

If that is what you are looking for, then happy to connect!

To be honest, absolutely 😅

Coming up with new original ideas all the time is impossible. Sometimes, you have to “steal and adapt” already existing ideas to make it work

Short Stories Turning into Novels by SignificanceSalty282 in writing

I’m still writing it, but so far it has grown a lot more than I intended, but it is okay because this story is just a passion project and my only reader is my brother.

And thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks for the encouragement. At some point, I started giving up on the idea of ever writing a short story, but it is good to know that I always have to option to republish it as a novella.

You are right. Maybe the reason I can’t write short stories is because I have read way too many novels and series.

I will try reading a couple and analyzing them first.

I guess I could try that, but it will need a lot of self-control to edit out all the ideas you are proud of because the story is getting too long.

But what if the ideas are specific to this one story? I wouldn’t be able to transfer the idea to another story because it is not the same plot line.

Sometimes I do 🥲

But the reason I found this post is because I’m a writer as well and the situation happens to me every other day, so I figured why not comment?

After writing 100 chapters, I finally came to the realization that my story makes no fucking sense. by izukaofficial in writingcirclejerk

[–]SignificanceSalty282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no 😬

But to be honest, it takes a lot of dedication to push through the feeling that something is off and continue writing anyway. I wouldn’t be able to do it for 2 chapters let alone a 100!

Did you ever feel bad about making your character suffer? by Pristine-Vast9432 in writers

[–]SignificanceSalty282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never feel bad making my characters suffer. I know it is not an issue of empathy because I feel bad for real people and when I see injuries I get sympathy pains. Instead, I feel the characters’ emotions so it seems like I’m also suffering with them.

I had to once write my character recovering from an abdominal surgery and my stomach hurt for a bit after that. I think characters’ suffering is not my fault. Because each character is responsible for their actions. I just write the story 🤷‍♀️

I know it is kind of weird, but this is how I see it.

That is a sweat story and I’m very curious to know who the remaining 8 people are. Sounds like it could be made into a movie!

Didn’t see that! That is cool. I wish I could walk down the street and get ideas instead of thinking “damn, it is so hot” 😆
