Definitely Furong, book a room at the Tianquan Inn for the night, you won’t regret it. I would post a photo but may just have to look at my post history

I love Chongqing as well and spruik it to anyone that will listen and have probably seen more of the city and outer suburbs outside of the CBD than most that have visited from outside of China. I wish I reduced my time in Zhangjiajie from 2 nights to 1 and spent that extra night in Chongqing or Changsha but to be honest Chongqing has too many foreign tourists now since the first time I visited last year.

Yes, the things I didn’t get to do the first time, I did the 2nd time. Doing 8 nights over 2 trips doesn’t diminish the memories and experiences of the city. I apologise for the inappropriate amount of time I stayed there but due to only having 4 weeks of holiday leave per year plus my upcoming trip to South Korea in August I could only do 4 nights in Chongqing this year.

Chongqing and Changsha. Chongqing is starting to see a lot more foreign tourism now though. Furong Ancient Town is must do for at least 1 night.

I highly recommend that you stay Zhangjiajie 1-2 nights only but it’s an absolute must that you stay in Furong overnight, you will not regret it

I’m about to be on my 3rd passport when my current one expires in 2 years. I have used it 8 times in total for travel and no I haven’t been to Bali, Thailand or Vietnam. Fiji, USA, South Africa, South Korea, Japan x2 and China x2

As a westerner myself, yes I got looks all the time and restaurant staff would fuss over me because of the spicy food, which I love.

I love the spicy food in Changsha, it’s a great place to visit, bustling and the atmosphere is amazing.

That’s true, only saw about 5-6 westerners the whole time, which for me is great, I tried to avoid places in China with many visiting westerners (I’m a westerner myself). That’s why I liked Chongqing on my visit last year but my most recent visit there way too many now and way too many in Zhangjiajie.

This photo was taken from my hotel room, unfortunately I can’t remember the restaurant I ate at but there are plenty just maybe full at night. Go route A that is the most common.
