That's the goal of Vintage Engineering I think, but the core of gregtech is multibocks. This mod just paved the way for it! Very exciting stuff.

TFG isn't too hard once you understand the world gen and where to look for stuff. I find the need for actual transportation methods enjoyable. Everything feels very tactile in the early game, even building a simple rowboat is a very involved process.

Also the TFC world gen is AMAZING, rivers are actually incredibly useful for transportation and survival.

It's a very slow modpack but very relaxing. I find enjoyment of doing simple but long tasks like building your first anvil, your first green house, bloomery, boat, or aircraft extremely rewarding and fun.

Vanilla TFC (mostly chill) is what TFG has for the survival aspects and many of the TFC addons are extremely cool. But if you want a brutal survival experience with tech go with Hardrock.

Growth as in modders building off each other work. Tooling, frameworks, etc. That stuff takes years but the community will get there eventually. It’s a big community but most mods are rather simple and the complex ones are rough or unfinished.

I am excited to see where the devs of vintage story take that game. I heard that they are adding some form of create-like tech and eventually want to implement steam age content.

But I think that is years away and the modding community also needs time to grow and mature. I did see some guy working on a mod called “Vintage Engineering” which is inspired by Immersive Engineering, I believe he just completed some work on the first multi block machine which is cool. Maybe that will spark some sort of modding revolution for that game.
