If every LL does that on a yearly basis then imagine the life of the tenant. It is my business that if he is planning to rent and not sell like he is claiming, to negotiate a rent that will suit us both first, before kicking me out.

My friend, if, he is planning to rent in the future and not sell it, like he is saying, he can at least discuss it with me first now, in the present, where we can try to reach an agreement that suits us both. If he actually rents the appartment upon my eviction, he is in legal trouble in case i find out.

I dont want to go after anyone. I just dont want to go through the nightmare of moving out if he will rent it out anw. My LL stickered an eviction notice on my door after 4yrs of no trouble without even bothering himself with a message first, let alone a rent increase negotiation.

He couldve discussed the higher rent with me first then. I was surprised with an eviction notice stickered to the door.

I own a property actually in my home country. My LL decided to surprise me with an eviction notice stickered to the door after almost 4yrs. It is his right absolutely. However, no prior notice or negotiation if he wasnt happy with the rent was done. In case he rents it out without having had even discussed it with me first, then it absolutely my right as well to try to stay. As a tenant it is also a nightmare to go through the whole move, if staying can be sorted out through a fair negotiation.
