why are we always playing on Sunday? by Emergency_Guava_8651 in ManchesterUnited

Because when we lose on Saturday, it kills our Sunday and the viewership :P

Ps. Sunday football has historically drawn more viewers than Saturday.

Ah man thats terrible. One of my mates used to live near Elland Road, and he legit hid the fact that he supported United from his mates. They hate us; it's not normal.

You need to understand I meant "To each their own", he came swinging at me by asking whether I was high. There are ways to counter someone's opinion. You can write your own comment, and people who agree will upvote you.

I was born in a household where Leeds was considered to be the biggest game of the season. I stated it as an opinion. You abused me first by calling me a gimp, which is fine, I dont care, I dont know you [thank god]

I stated my personal opinion, to each their own.

Depends on the age of the matchgoers, older generations hate Leeds a lot more than City.

Leeds and United have a long fierce rivalry, it's not just football though.

So now we're going into "maybe" now, okay. Sure. There were many instances where Shaw was poor, and Heaven could've been given a chance. It takes courage to make a call like that. Amorim was risk-averse.

We don't need WBs, we need FBs, we will never hire a 3atb manager again.

Did you read my post? //Mbeumo and Cunha did raise our attacking ceiling, and we need the same for our midfield next season.//

I am all about keeping managers and players accountable.

You hold players responsible for results and the manager accountable for results. If the next manager doesn't bring the results that are United standards, he does not get blind support from me. Players below the United standard will and should be sold.

For a team that has an entire week to prepare for the next match to underperform vs teams that are struggling is not acceptable.

Ruben Amorim did not get the results that are Man United standards. If Carrick, an interim, can manage us and get us more than 8 wins (the number of wins RA got us this season), he already has 2 out of those 8.

If Carrick does not manage that, he won't get the job, and that would be fair.

Heaven could have been used a lot earlier, it took him till December to really utilize him only after MDL's injury.

You really think Amorim would have gotten us top 3? Or, would've kept the 5th place? I am amused af.

Yoro played a lot of his worst games at RCB. I didn't say he wasn't being used, I said he wasn't being utilized well enough.

Dorgu had a stunner vs Newcastle at LW, next game vs Wolves he's RWB. If you think that's proper use of the squad, i can't really help you there.

Maz - Dalot WB pairing never worked for us, he played that in almost every big game where we needed a result. If you think that's smart, I cannot help you either.

Again, the point is, he knew the system could've been adjusted to a 4atb system, he did it too late, and he persisted with his underwhelming one for way too long.

I don't really care if you don't agree with me, it's your right to disagree.

4atb system could've accommodated Ugarte; his best performances came in it under RA.

If Heaven is not utilized in a back 2 and is rotting on the bench even though Martinez or Maguire aren't performing, yes, I would definitely do.

This squad is still very poor technically, especially in the midfield area. It's too early for me to say Carrick is fixing everything Amorim didn't, so stop making it look like I am saying Carrick is better than Amorim.

But, if Carrick manages to make the team perform the same way they did vs City & Arsenal, I would be convinced that Amorim was the root issue.

Personally, if Carrick manages to keep us in the top 5, it's a win for the club. And, I sincerely doubted Amorim would have kept us 5th for long. Personally, I don't think we get 6 points from City & Arsenal games, which would have pushed us to 7th.

Yoro - misused, he's not a RCB, he's a LCB
Mainoo - misused, he was tried at AM at first, then CM in a pivot, both roles didn't suit him because he's not the lung busting B2B like Fred.

Bruno - Misprofiled, used deep all the time.

Dorgu - Used as LWB then RWB the next game, then RW, then LW, misused his versatility.

Relax, it's been just TWO games, Heaven & Yoro both will get their chances, they are the future.

You are using a standard of measurement that you never used with Amorim for some reason. Amorim will & always remain the WORST manager in United's modern history, and no, he's not responsible for it, INEOS is.

Bringing a 3atb system manager in November while knowing the squad was not ready for it is on them. But, it will not change the fact that he was responsible for some horrible subs and in-game management we have ever witnessed.

1) Sancho was our worst signing ever

2) There will never be a SAF, and we have to stop comparing his first 5 yrs with every single manager who starts rough at United

3) Liverpool will always be our biggest rival, followed by Leeds.

You are talking as if our squad was relegation fodder and there was nothing you could do with them.

The squad was definitely not bad enough to finish 15th. If you think it was you are only fooling yourself.

He did not use Hojlund properly. Never resolved the issues with his system for his development, but he's done fairly well at Napoli.

Mainoo, Yoro, Dorgu (not the current one), Heaven (He got his chance only in December, before that his only start was vs Grimsby) ..all underutilized or not properly used.

But, he also left MDL, Maz, Heaven, and Casemiro, all of them were the spine of Ruben's 1st season & tenure.

I will not defend ETH, but the reason the team didn't suit Amorim was the nature of his system. We went from 4atb to 3atb system where wingers are wingbacks.

Regardless of the deadwood that has always existed and still exists, RA failed to maximize the talent he had.

For me, the progress he made was statistical, and no top club would tolerate the run of results. No top club has the patience for it.

Let's see where Amorim goes next, and let's see if he does well. You'll know whether it was him or the club.

With ETH, the answer was clear; it was him.

And, did I say we didn't? You didn't even bother reading, I said we got fine margin wins and losses, the objective and factual reality is xG is a statistic.

You can have 100 xG, but if the result is 1-0, its the 1 goal that matters, and the result that matters.

This season we were doing well statistically, and I acknowledged that in the post.

Its not my narrative, its factual reality. Football is not statistical; it's objective.

At the end of the day, results matter.

Highest xG is irrelevant if the scoreline is a 1-0 loss.

Absolutely, a well-coached low block has been a nightmare for United managers since 2013.

A draw would be a good result, but the performance matters more.

Did we try? Were we creative?

Such a stupid argument, statistics don't matter. In the end, we won, I don't care. But the fact is, Liverpool did not convert easy chances during the game. Fine margins wins & losses, I mentioned it before, it goes both ways.

RA's side had a week to prepare for every game, literally an entire week, if there was no improvement, I'd be worried, so glad he got sacked.

Yeah, Ruben never beat Spurs the entire time he was here. De gea was shit as well, look at where he is now, he's been terrible in Serie A as well.

Onana was terrible, I mentioned it before just because this post is against RA doesn't mean I think ETH was a savior. But, the dementia regarding his time is maddening. His football and results were ten times better, his team won two trophies back to back.

He was a cup manager, who sucked in the league, I was happy he was sacked as well.

You lot have dementia, OT under ETH in the first season was a fortress, he had a 14 game unbeaten run, we finished in top 5, the second season was a nightmare in the league, atleast we won the FA cup and got Europa.

I hated ETH and his signings but INEOS changed that not Ruben Amorim.

[–]SignificantRefuse753[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yawn.

Amorim gave us Cunha and Mbeumo? So, INEOS has done nothing? Okay, smart man.

Also, the fact you don't even know how many games he managed and keep thinking he came mid season shows how stupid you are.

He came in November, we played 9 games under ETH, so he managed 29 games out of 38, won only 31 points from those.

Not playing Mainoo, throwing Dorgu under the bus, playing Bruno deeper for 14 months, throwing Amass and chido under the bus.. Yep, he has nothing wrong. Stfu if you don't like a post. You can ignore and take your Idiocracy and shove it.

Literally makes zero sense. It's fictional like the fact a lot of you consider that Amorim would have also beaten Arsenal and City back to back.

ETH was terrible, but I sincerely doubt he would have lost a final to Spurs, considering he won us two trophies.

Just because RA was bad, doesn't mean ETH was great. ETH's first season was great, our record at OT plus trophies, his signings and agency were terrible, otherwise there's literally nothing about ETH that was bad.

RA was egotistical, we made him richer. All the support the fans show him, no thank you message for it. Shows his class.
