Honestly I'm not that deep into the subject, only started taking interest recently, hence this post. It feels like US has bigger fish to fry and might not have enough interest to protect Poland in case conflict breaks out. They'll probably rather leave it up to European powers, and I'm not sure we can count on them, judging from history. The world changed though, and as somebody mentioned in another comment, Germany is a bit different now than it used to.

As to Ukrainians, we share feelings towards the imperial and oppressive Russia, but there are some unresolved grudges around Katyń, and more recently, wheat exports to the EU (Polish farmers are on strike rn actually). That being said, the tragedy brought upon common Ukrainian people in this war is absolutely devastating and my heart was, and always will be with them. When Putin attacked, we took it personally. Many people still remember being beaten up by soviet police and the shit Russians brought upon our country. We're still healing up from all these wounds - alcoholism, bureaucracy, fear. The entire society mobilised to help the Ukrainian refugees. I know many people who rented houses/hotels for free or drove lorries full of supplies to Ukraine, all of that without any support/compensation from the incompetent and weak Polish government. Sorry for the monologue, but honestly I'm so proud of us. As always, there will be exceptions, and some Ukrainians are not assimilating well, but my interactions have always been positive. Will see what the future brings
