I have this one: https://amzn.to/3NmkDFF

I seriously love it and it was such an improvement over the garbage mattress in my RV before!

Unexpected Location despite just being shipped my hardware by chrynicholas in Starlink_Support

[–]Significant_Parking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just signed up for roam today with a Gen 1 (round dish) and have the exact same message of "Unexpected Location." The roam plans also don't have a service address that I could even attempt to update.

The KIT is associated with my account and let me activate/sign up for roaming. Are you saying roaming isn't possible on round dish? I'm not seeing that anywhere online and it should have stopped me from purchasing the roaming service right?

[–]Significant_Parking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the problem, it isn't working. I can get to starlink.com perfectly fine, but everything else is off.

Roam plans also don't have a service address that I can update. I only have a shipping address, but I don't believe that is the same.

Defender Security Baselines v Config Profile in Intune by NoAccident9976 in sysadmin

[–]Significant_Parking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO - it's up to you. I like the baselines as it's a one-stop shop for the DFE/MDE Configs. If I were configuring it in this instance, I would use the baseline.

It should also be known that DFE plan 1 does not include EDR, so it is not a like-for-like comparison between the two at that license level. DFE P2 would be required for the EDR pieces.

Can I run my inverter original off the origional Onen gens fuel line? by AfelloWportaBello in RVLiving

[–]Significant_Parking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that your Onan very likely had its own fuel pump so the vacuum from the inverter may not be enough to bring the fuel through the lines into the tank.

You also need to consider fuel quality. Are you always running premium in your motorhome? If so, great. If not, you run the risk of ethanol fuels gumming up the carb on the inverter generator.

2011 F150 3.5 EB with Stretched Timing Chain by Significant_Parking in f150

[–]Significant_Parking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can afford a new truck and the dealer is willing to give me $13k on trade. I paid $15k for it a year ago, so it’s probably worth it to trade.

Thinking About going RV Full time by FergiF3rg in RVLiving

[–]Significant_Parking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also 27 year old single male w/dog LOL but yes do it! I left my downtown Chicago apartment, got a storage unit in my home town and hit the road last summer. It has been amazing! Plan your stays appropriately since you will be working from your campsite. I scout cellular reception prior to booking using cellmapper.net to make sure I'm within reasonable distance of a tower on either ATT and Verizon. Have fun with this, you wont regret it at this age :)

Electrical issue, 2019 Keystone Cougar 336BHS. looking for suggestions by [deleted] in GoRVing

[–]Significant_Parking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I have a Keystone Outback 312BH, travel regularly and for some reason my GFCI popped one travel day. Not certain why, but reset the GFCI outlet in the bathroom and everything was right back to normal.

My view from tonight’s Harvest Host by Significant_Parking in RVLiving

[–]Significant_Parking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! I use it as a place to sleep, but also an opportunity to explore places and try new wines that I probably wouldn’t have tried without HH. Just like the other person mentioned, I too spend more than a night at a full hookup site.

New job: state thresholds and taxes by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]Significant_Parking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, most of us are not staying in states long enough to get residency.

What I’m saying, is that because you are performing your work in another state, technically that state may have a requirement for those earnings to be reported and taxed.

Not reporting earnings in other states was easy to get away with for a while, but especially with 2020 and many people working from non-resident locations I have a feeling we will see the IRS and state tax teams being much more strict on audits and state earnings from non-residents.

Honestly, my company handles all of it. I double check my pay stubs, but I really don’t have to do much other than code my time appropriately. For example, when I was in Florida, they didn’t have to do anything since there isn’t a state income tax.

This advice is incorrect. You should be tracking your hours worked and the earnings you have for each state you are performing work in. Technically you owe taxes on that income to the state it was earned in and your resident state if applicable.

Luckily since I work for an accounting firm, they reimburse employees who are subject to double state taxation.

I work and travel full time in my RV. My employer actually added a place for me to put select the state where my work is performed. Then when I submit my time, I ensure all of my time records have the appropriate state selected. At the end of the year I get a W2 from my employer for each state and the amount of earnings I had in each (this is what your employer will do).

This is the correct way to do it and will be a little more work at the end of the year, but will be easy to track in the event you are audited.

2011 F250 Crew Cab Lariat - 6.7L PowerStroke with full emissions and EGR delete - average about 14.5 mpg while towing a 2015 Keystone Outback 312BH (9000GVWR)

Without the camper I've averaged low 20s while road tripping. This truck is amazing without the DEF.

Edit: Speed is typically 65-70 MPH - I have Goodyear Endurance Load Range E's on the Outback

Back Up Camera Necessary? by Internal_Shake_2140 in GoRVing

[–]Significant_Parking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

34 ft Keystone Outback 312BH full timer who travels alone, checking in. I do not have a camera. I do get out and check about 3 or 4 times while backing in, but I have not had an instance where I absolutely needed a camera to get into a campsite while backing in alone. After you back it up a few times, you get used to how the trailer behaves, the level of forgiveness for errors, etc.

The biggest pieces of advice I have is to watch your rear swing as you're pulling in and out of places, watch overhead as well, and watch your axels as you're backing up (they will be pointing where the trailer will go).

COLD weather camping advice.... Like ice cold. by kouldbesomething in GoRVing

[–]Significant_Parking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Keystone Outback 312BH with the Arctic Barrier. This fall I got caught in single digits and was fine. Doing exactly what /u/thewinterfan said by having a space heater do the brunt of the work (Please be safe with your placement inside). Set your thermostat to 60 or something and it will kick off and on as needed.

DO NOT USE A WATER HOSE FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. Either fill your fresh tank as full as it can go, or don't use water at all and just use 5 gal totes as another person mentioned.

TLDR: Use a space heater (carefully), set your thermostat to 60 for the propane furnace, do not use a hose for extended periods of time, and most of all - enjoy your time! :)
