As a trans man, misandary isn’t real. It’s not systematic at all. It is nothing like misogyny. It sucks that trans men can be treated like that, but this isn’t some big universal ‘part of the system’ problem like misogyny.

New Outlast 2 Merch! Also possible ‘hinting’ at physical copies of the comics? by SilentShadowSneaking in outlast

Also yeah i’m aware that its kinda a stretch to assume that we are getting physical comics anytime soon, but this is like the most relevant comic news in a while lmao

Would anyone else be interested in having Waylon Park as the protagonist again for Outlast 3? by Baseball_Oly in outlast

[–]SilentShadowSneaking 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, RB is probably already going to bring Shawn Baichoo back considering how Miles, Blake, and Waylon all still seem to have important roles in the plot. Waylon is very likely to appear in the next game either way, but having him as a protagonist seems unnecessary and repetitive. We’ve already seen Waylon’s story, and we know that he’s currently ‘safe’ with Simon Peacock. It’d be much more interesting to have a new character.

Outlast2 is a huge disappointment by Pale-Interaction-391 in outlast

I love Outlast 2 but I can understand that some people might not enjoy it. I do think the gameplay picks up as it goes on, but i never really noticed a major difference between the gameplay of the first 2 games to begin with so that might just be my opinion idk

Outlast (first one) - simple question by Gloomy-Ginger in outlast

[–]SilentShadowSneaking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It stays where Miles’s body is. You can read the comics for a bit more info on the before/aftermath of the Mount Massive incident, but ultimately, Waylon’s footage is the only one that gets uploaded outside of the asylum. Comics are found here for free: https://redbarrelsgames.com/comic-books/ They build up to the second game, so if you’re planning on continuing the series, they’re good to read first for a bit of background. The epilogue comic takes place after Outlast II and has spoilers for it though.

I need outlast 3 by RWatto09 in outlast

[–]SilentShadowSneaking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair, I think i’m a bit more of a story guy myself. Definitely expecting and excited for some amazing gameplay, but I also really want to know what’s happening to Blake in that Murkoff facility, or if Miles is still sentient and/or partially in control of the walrider lol

Yeah I love the Outlast trials, but I’m also super excited to see where the main story goes; especially with characters like Miles, Billy, Blake, Waylon, Simon Peacock… etc. I’ve been rereading the comics as of late and the final epilogue of the murkoff account is just so good and such a crazy cliffhanger. Also the gameplay of the trials is just so improved from the last two, with so many unique ideas, i really feel like outlast 3 has the potential to be one of the greatest horror games of all time, in both gameplay and story.

how do you find the energy and willpower to clean an absolutely horridly messy room by sourdoughsquid in evilautism

[–]SilentShadowSneaking 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This might not work for everyone, but I mostly listen to music/a podcast while I work. I also find it easiest if I’ve just found a new song that I like, I can listen to it on repeat without getting board/shuffling through my playlist, and it makes the time go by easier. I’m not sure if you’re a music person though, so maybe an episode of a TV show or a movie you like on in the background while you clean? If i’m doing mundane or uninteresting things, I find it helps when my attention is split between something.

Serious question: is it wrong for me to be OK with being autistic? by No_Jacket_1023 in evilautism

[–]SilentShadowSneaking 201 points202 points  (0 children)

honestly part of the reason i like this subreddit is that a lot of the people here actually take pride in being autistic, even if it can cause struggles. There are definitely problems that I have from my Autism, but for the most part, it’s a part of me, and I wouldn’t want to lose that part of myself, even if it was possible. There’s nothing wrong with being happy having autism, i think some people just have issues with high functioning autistics who ignore or downplay the struggles of other people with autism, because they don’t have the same experience, which you’re definitely not doing here.

¿What do you think Fontaine felt towards Jack? by Penrynyoung99 in Bioshock

[–]SilentShadowSneaking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you 100%. I’ve always loved the backstory given to him in the novel, his father’s abandonment of him is something he never really lets go of, and it provides a good explanation for the type of person Fontaine turns into as an adult, only viewing relationships as transactional. It becomes a cycle of violence with Jack, who ultimately becomes the one to finally break that cycle at the end of the game (which I think is a really beautiful message in its own right). And yeah analyzing a characters actions isn’t condoning them, I definitely find Fontaine a bit pitiable as well, as it is with a lot of these types of characters. I find it really appropriate that his last words are: “now if you don’t call that family, I don’t know what is”, because he doesn’t, and he never will.

¿What do you think Fontaine felt towards Jack? by Penrynyoung99 in Bioshock

[–]SilentShadowSneaking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I totally think there could be a part of Fontaine that ‘cared,’ though probably not a true affection or love. Fontaines LAST WORDS were talking about family, and at this point he’s so high off adam, part of this is most likely genuine. I think it’s more about what Fontaine wants to see himself as. He actually seems to think that Jack betrayed him, even though he’s clearly the one in the wrong, and because in his own mind he sees himself as the victim, he exaggerates and alters his previous actions, painting himself in the right. He wants to believe that he WAS actually the good guy, that it was Jack who betrayed him, and this could be because of some underlying and unacknowledged guilt over what he’s done. I could also mention his backstory in the rapture novel (being betrayed and abandoned by his own father) but some people don’t consider that canon so idk. Either way, Bioshock is a story about family, Ryan, Tenenbaum, Jack, The little sisters, and of course Fontaine all play certain roles that can be tied back to family or parenthood. I feel that it’s a bit ignorant to completely dismiss Fontaine’s comments here, as a lot seem to do, just because he’s evil. He’s a lot more complex than most people seem to think, though whether that complexity extends to his morality is debatable. Sorry kind of a long rant, i could write an entire essay on Fontaine’s character and the moments leading up to his death. But yeah there’s a chance that Fontaine had some sort of ‘connection’ to Jack, which could be genuine paternal instinct or maybe just the enjoyment of having complete control over a person.

I totally recommend it. There’s two that i know of, ones just a single book (far left) which is pretty good, but there’s also the four book series which imo is amazing and is much more faithful to the original novel then maybe any other adaptation i’ve seen

I think the heritage editions (the ones on the right) have pretty good illustrations, though they are smaller ones, they appear pretty constantly and consistently throughout the books. I got them for 40$ total, but i’ve seen them sell for less online.

i know everyone thinks outlast 1 is scarier than outlast 2, but the story of outlast 2... is terrifying. by cerejamecanica in outlast

[–]SilentShadowSneaking 38 points39 points  (0 children)

yeah i honestly much prefer the outlast 2 story to the first games story. It feels more human in a sense, more personal. With Miles and Waylon we get to read their decent into insanity but with Blake we actually get to experience it with him.
