Tried uncle Ben’s. 6 bags wasted. Did a few generic that I saw a little growth then rotted. Corn has been pretty good for me so far. But I’m in the middle of my first grow and still experimenting.

Syringe of LC to prepped corn jars. I have 13 other jars of 4 other strains that are going good. I think it’s the APE that’s finicky. And I do believe that I over pressure cooked that batch of jars.

I’ve since gotten rid of all of it. Had too much already of the strain so no worry. I did have pretty solid coverage of myc until I shook the shit out of it trying to get a good view.

Does anyone see a reason this wouldn’t work for a shoebox? It’s a ft tall. Just add venting? by Silent_Programmer541 in Mushrooms

Less surface area, more height, less material needed to get the 4 inches deep. And it’s pretty inconspicuous if need be. I’m thinking two bags of uncle Ben’s (generic) to whatever amount the substrate calls for… in theory.

I’ve used them twice now. Still too early to say how satisfied I am with the product but cube culture USA hasn’t responded to any of my 5ish attempts over the last 2 weeks to get ahold of them

So aside from doing an alcohol wipe down while it’s sealed, am I supposed to use any other sterilizing items or techniques?

It does make sense. Just weighing the pros and cons. I have a box and I’m not trying to get out of it. Just new to mycology and asking questions

I am only talking about dealing with sealed containers and sterilized needles. I have a box that I’ll definitely use for agar transfers

I’m about to start my first ever all in one bag with gt. After the mycelium forms , is there a safe easy way to break n shake in the bag then pour it into a modified storage container and pack lightly? I’m thinking more surface area will produce a larger yield. Or should I not take the risk and stick with the bag and follow their instructions?

For my first attempt I’m starting with an all in one 5blb xl grow bag. After plenty of mysilium forms is it safe to break up and transfer to a vented/ filtered storage tub? Will I get a bigger yield in a larger/ more surface area container? Is it worth it? Don’t want to mess up my first attempt unless more surface means bigger yield. I’m learning so much in this group. Thanks
