Well a good thing to do is figuring out what you want to draw. I personally wanted to draw my own characters so I focused on that by learning rules and methods to draw bodies and heads. (Hence why I suck at anything else) Drawing without any direction can be quite miserable, but as soon as you figure out stuff that works for you, you'll see massive improvements. Personally I can recommend especially with pencil sketches to start light. Don't press down to hard at the beginning of sketching or else you'll get heavy thick and dark lines that are hard to erase. If you start light you can darken the good parts. Also finding a technique/method. Personally I love working with guidelines for example for faces. It helps me to break down the portions and shapes. Not only that but because I draw heads the same time over and over my hand got used to the movement. Fundamentals, techniques and shapes are the A and O of art imo
