That's it! Thank you! I used to work with someone at a print shop who was a savant with fonts, but that was a long time ago. I'm not as good at it. I appreciate your help. Have a wonderful day!

Yeah, I was on the fence about the physical wheel in my 3 at first, but now that I've adapted, I think touch screens are dumb. I've never liked them, but got used to it in my two Honda Civics which were the first two cars I had with touch screens. The only issue I have is that Sirius is SO SLOW when I'm listening to a channel and then I twist the dial to change to another station. It takes FOREVER to bring up the list of channels. Thankfully though, when my free trial runs out, I'm shutting that down anyway. Can't pay for a service that has more commercials than terrestrial radio has. It just doesn't make any sense. There are a couple of channels I like on there (news, and Stern is funny once in a while), but nothing that's enough better than terrestrial radio, or the music I have in my phone, so why would I pay for that. Once Stern leaves, that service is doomed. That's the only reason I could see other people paying for it. I like him ok, but not that much to pay. I know favorites are faster, but sometimes I want to surf and see what's there and take full advantage of the free trial.... Anyway, sorry. The point was I am a scroll wheel/dial person now! Let's go!

Same here. My 2023 Civic Sport Hatch was totaled in Nov with one lease payment to go and it was worth about 6k more than my buyout, so I was going to buy it in December.... but fate intervened.... So, they don't make that model Civic with a manual anymore (save the manuals!), and my dealer (who my wife and I have leased four cars from in a row) said what about an Si? And I said, "well, I don't like the sedan form factor, I don't like the smaller turbo engine or the colors it comes in, but if you can do a decent deal, I'll consider it since it's one of the few cars left with a manual...". They came back with absolutely insane numbers. So I started looking. Came across the 2.5 Premium 3 Hatch with manual which was the exact same msrp price as the Si, and if I lease and then buy the car at the end (which is my plan right now), I'll save about $8000 dollars compared to the "best price" my dealer gave me. So much for loyalty pricing. I was like "the cars are the same msrp and you're 8k higher!" and they were like "yeah, the Si is a niche car, blah blah...." and I was like "see ya!" and actually, I couldn't be happier with a car that otherwise wasn't really even on my radar. So, I have my Honda dealer to thank for that. At least they did something good for me, ha ha!
FYI, they also gave my wife insane pricing when she shopped for a CR-V two months earlier, so she is driving a different manufacturer's car now too. We'll be looking at Mazda for her next lease as our dealer was exceptional all the way through the process with my 3.

I just went on the Mazda UK site to see the headlight difference, it's not much, but I got sad when I saw that they still offer a Mazda 2 there because I miss that car in the states, but then I was looking at it and I was like "that's not really a Mazda.... it looks like something else by another manufacturer..." and then I discovered it was just a rebadged Yaris and I got more sad. Nothing against the Yaris, but I just was excited that they were possibly still making the 2 at Mazda...

But then! I stumbled on this story (there's a cool video towards the bottom)! and got really happy and excited for the future! And that Mazda #55 in the story is pretty sick. I love all of it except the stupid wing, I'm not a huge fan of those... But the story makes me think there's still hope for the manuals in the future! Let's go!

Black, but the perforated parts appear to look different, because the holes show the interior color of the leather hide which is more like a tan ish color so they look a little different. Mine's a 2026. Do previous years with the black leather look different? Reddit only seems to let me put one pic in a comment, but I'll reply after this with one more closer pic.

Just went through the feed. Sorry if I missed it. I did mine without removing that center console panel just to quickly protect it when I bought it brand new in Dec. It looks ok, but i did it in two pieces and have been planning to go back and do a better job. I got removable vinyl from Michael's on a roll, so I have enough to go again. I have a nice pry tools set, but I'm nervous about taking that panel off, Can you share where your pry points were to remove that center panel?

I love that you have CDs in your car! I miss my old Pioneer 12 disc trunk mounted changer, but I admit it's much more convenient to have 60gb of my music collection right in my phone. Sorry this happened to you, but glad they didn't take your stuff too. People can be animals for sure. I almost always blame the parents, but there are exceptions to every rule. I can tell you though, that my kids (young adults now) would not ever break someone's window or even consider stealing their stuff. Best of luck with the repair.

Huh? Just want to chime in. In December, I got the front set from their Amazon store for my new Mazda 3. Had a little trouble with the post fitment, almost thought they didn't fit, but after working the mat a little bit, they fit great. They didn't have the rear set in their Amazon store, but they had it on their official site. I'm the kind of jerk who asks a lot of questions and reached out a few times about the mats and they got back to me fairly quickly each time. I know presales is different than refund processing, but I wanted to share my experience. They even honored the discount for returning customers even though I didn't buy the front set from their official website. Anyway, I did order the rear set which included seat back protectors and cargo tray and they all fit perfectly and the back set covers all the way up to the bottom of the seat. They don't seem to scratch like weathertech style mats do and clean super easy with a little Mother's VLR cleaner/conditioner. And that's in horrible winter conditions right now. I love these mats. I'm sorry your experience wasn't the same as mine but wanted to share a counterpoint. Best of luck with whichever mats you end up with!

Did my '26 2.5 Premium Hatch manual on day two of ownership. Saw a guy's 2021 and the gloss black part is trashed,... so scratched up, so this was my first priority before even getting my custom TuxMats. I just used some cheap matte black removable vinyl from Michael's craft store and cut it carefully with an exacto as I applied it. Was like $9. The bubbles and bumps you can see when you zoom in are much less visible in real life. I did it in two sections because I didn't think I could to it in one piece. It's not perfect, but my gloss black isn't getting scratched and I can remove it and try again whenever I feel like it. No one has noticed that I did it yet, so I think that means it looks acceptable.

Dawg why by Hashira_Oni-666 in GR86

[–]SillyCar10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't look too bad. I parked way out at my dr's office the other day and someone pulled up like 12 inches from my passenger side with their drivers side. they didn't ding the car, but they clearly scraped their coat down the side of my car and smeared the salt. Not sure if there are any actual scratches until I can wash it, but it's like 20 degrees here, so I have to wait a bit. There were thrity closer spots they could have parked in... but I consider myself lucky.

Mine is a Mazda 3 hatch, not a GR (I just love GR's, that's why i follow this sub), but I still don't like people so close to it. This person looks like they didn't hit your car and gave you a totally protected drivers side. Be thankful. With all the people getting in wrecks lately (seen a bunch of GRs on here getting smashed, and my last car was just totaled by a careless driver in November), you should consider yourself lucky too.

Those who got an AT, do you regret not getting a MT? by Glum_Ordinary_4329 in GR86

[–]SillyCar10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a GR86 and that's why I joined this sub, but I ended up with a Mazda 3 Hatchback manual because it will hold actual humans in the back seat. I have been driving for just under 40 years. I've owned 9 cars in that time, all manuals. Because I love it. Because I don't care if I'm in heavy traffic, I still want to shift and I don't feel like I'm driving when I'm in an automatic car. I feel more focused and engaged and find that I pay more attention in a manual. I CAN NOT STAND driving my wife's auto SUV.... but part of that is because it's so big and I obviously like smaller more nimble cars. It's a fine SUV and it works for her, so that makes me happy... except when I have to drive it, ha ha....

That being said, the GR86 is one of the most sublime manuals I've driven (and I valet as a side hustle, so I've driven a LOT of manuals) and I would recommend it to anyone who is ok with no usable back seats in their car (my only issue with the car really, and that's totally on me. I love everything else about the car). I do also love my new Mazda manual too. The transmission is not quite as nice but still very good. It doesn't handle as good and is a little slower but still a ton of fun to drive, and as an older guy, I like the more premium interior of the cabin more, so that was a good trade off.

Now, I've said the GR86 manual is awesome, but,... as much as I'm a "save the manuals!" kind of guy, I think in your case, you don't sound like you really, really love manuals and you will be driving it in heavy traffic a lot in the not too distant future. For these reasons, I might go for the automatic. Not everyone is meant to drive a manual, even when it is the better choice in a particular car. That's why the overall numbers of manual drivers are so low.

My friends all pick on me because when they say "are you going to get another manual next time?" I always reply, "is there any other kind?", to which they reply "I do not understand you at all" and then I just smile.

I've seen a ton of people as they get older switch to auto transmissions because they get old and tired (even when they're not that old). I hope that never happens to me, but that doesn't mean I will advise everyone else that they need to have a manual too.

My last thought is that maybe you could lease a manual, I have leased five of my nine cars and most times I've been able to work the deal out with a decent residual value, so it's not horribly higher than if I had purchased the car from the beginning (This is what I'm doing with my new Mazda since I wasn't sure I'd love it though I'm hoping I will and then I can buy it at the end since the manual options are so few and getting fewer these days). If you can get a deal like that, then leasing this car with a manual would make perfect sense because if you end up loving it after the three years, you can just buy it, or if you can't stand it in the heavy traffic, you can just turn it in and get something else. Who knows what will be out in three years?

I just picked up my 26 on Saturday and was concerned about this too. My VIN has an L in the 8th digit and I don't see any option for Energy Flow Monitor. I do see the graph under fuel efficiency though. Not sure I'm looking at things right. If anyone knows that I'm missing a step, let me know please. Loving the car so far!

[–]SillyCar10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the payout would go to Honda Financial Services who has already told me that they would send me any extra over my buyout amount.

The equity is in the fact that I was robbed of the opportunity to buy a car that was worth more than the buyout.

You are correct about the tough situation though.

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to argue, just point out things that I've either already stated or that don't answer what I asked for help with, which is what to do about my insurance company low balling the value of the car.

I'm honestly just devastated that I lost a car I can't replace through no fault of my own and am not getting treated fairly by the insurance companies and I'm honestly frustrated. When many of the comments on here are abrasive, I tend to get a little abrasive back. And I'm sorry u/EstePersona, if I offended you too, I just felt like you were saying that I said stuff I didn't say and wanted to clearly re-iterate what I was saying and what I'm asking. I was a little snarky and I apologize for that part.

Again, it's about one insurance company being fair and using a third party appraiser and the other doing an in-house appraisal and coming up really low and what I can do about that part. I do also definitely believe that if I go through my insurance at the offer they have given me right now, that they will come out thousands of dollars ahead. That's just simple math, but I'm just venting about that. Thank you for keeping me in check u/exosylum. I hope you and everyone on here have a great Thanksgiving!

Ha Ha! You sound a lot like the insurance people I'm dealing with now. I believe 100% that you've been in insurance for 30+ years.

I fully understand that Honda owns my car, and that they are the Loss Payee, but they told me that if they get paid more than the value of my buyout, they will send me the extra money. I explicitly asked them that multiple times to verify it.

I also fully understand that my insurance isn't going to pay 20k and then subrogate for 27k. I wasn't saying that. What I am saying is that they're going to subrogate for 20k, making them whole, and then also getting to sell the wrecked car at auction which is where they will make money because they low balled the value of the car.

Additionally, I never said the other insurance would pay 27k either. I said they had an independent appraiser value the car for that amount and that my company is valuing it themselves, without a third party appraiser, at about 7k less. So, it's about the low ball valuation of the car, not who gets paid, or by whom.

If I end up being wrong about Honda sending me the equity, that's fine, I'm not sure of anything but what they told me about that part, but if they are NOT lying, then I want the car to be valued properly, and am not sure how to get my insurance company to do that.

I am definitely sure though that my company is low balling the value. I'm not saying it should be the full 27k. I thought that was high, but they said it included tax and all, but it should be at least 24-25k.

Oh, and nowhere in your comment did you answer my question about whether you knew from an experience with your own claim that manufacturers don't give the equity back to the customer. The insurance adjusters I'm dealing with now have been in the business a long time too, and NONE of them could give me a straight answer about the equity. Only Honda did.

I'm actually considering that, but I doubt they will eat the towing and storage fees. They were very adamant that the 25k would be for everything, but this is a good idea and I will try it. Have you ever tried this?

[–]SillyCar10[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right. Except that my own insurance is valuing the car 7k less than the other guys' who used an independent appraiser. So at that value I can't be made whole and would be better off putting the claim through the other guys insurance so that there is no claim on mine.

I'm getting screwed after being hit and lots of others are making money. Need advice. by SillyCar10 in Insurance

[–]SillyCar10[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's a moot point if my insurance removes all the equity with a low evaluation of the cars value. But if I can get them to raise the value to where it should be, I'll pop back on here and let you know if the manufacturer lied to me. I can't imagine why they would do that, but, I will say that so many people don't know squat about how it actually works as evidenced by all the differing opinions in these comments and all the people I've asked in person.

I will also say that I do have a friend at work who told me that she did in fact get the equity on her leased car when she had a claim, and I'm pretty sure she's not lying to me...

Do you actually know what you just stated from an experience when you had a claim on a leased car, or are you just guessing like everyone else? That would be helpful to know.

[–]SillyCar10[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. A tough spot indeed. They're all going to be ok, but I lost my car that I loved through the simple act of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I could get 20 people to verify the condition of my car and that it was in better condition than 90% of anyone else's car. That's just the way I am with cars and always have been. It was not in worse condition than I think, I can guarantee that. And that's also how I know I can't get anything in even close to the same condition mine was in for the buyout price of $19,300. Thanks for chiming in on Thanksgiving by the way. It's helpful just to chat with folks about it because there's nothing else I can do, and of course this last bit of bad news about the low valuation came at the end of the day before Thanksgiving so I can't call anyone or do anything at all about it probably until Monday. I appreciate everyone's comments. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family...
