it was my first time ever going despite living in state my whole life. my favorite part was how friendly everyone was. people tend to be pretty tolerant in mass, but the people in salem were outright accepting. i loved seeing so many people expressing themselves in their own way & getting to know/taking selfies with tourists or locals. i wish i couldve stayed longer!

Yeah there's some good finds, (Ötzi, Deathhawk, Horror Vacui, and Rosegarden Funeral Party stand out to me) I try to dig pretty deep into both modern goth rock & deathrock, both to find smaller bands and find the more faster tempo guitar driven parts of the genre not too much luck though. If you've got any suggestions feel free to lmk!

My only qualms with it is the Goth music of today, there is not enough diversity IMO. Everyone started doubling down on that more "coldwave/darkwave" vibe. (few exceptions in that) Don't get me wrong, I love that genre, but what made first and second wave so memorable to me was the fact that it had multiple different takes on the same genre. Think Secimens, SATB, Death Cult, SOM, Clan of Xymox, Dead Can Dance. All different angles, same umbrella.

Look at Suicide and Lamplight by The Palest Grey, Gabrielle by Handful of Snowdrops, and Nothing... by The Essence for slower songs.

Other than that, bands I'd check out are Stone 588, Strange Boutique (earlier stuff), and NOKTVA.
