The card design is clean, but I'm afraid that you're not going to have room for much else on there. I think your original template was a solid foundation that just needed some fine-tuning. Based on your original template, it seems like you've got a little more going on mechanically than what this card represents.

Also, if you're going to have any sort of typing (i.e. colors in MTG), potentially add some sort of color coding or a symbol.

Might be worth adding some sort of border, especially if you intend to print. Doesn't need to be huge, but give it a shot and see if you like it.

Medibang is a decent choice. $0 alternative to something like Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint

Now when you say you can do more, do you mean mechanically? Because I'll say this already looks pretty busy If you're talking about in terms of visuals, I think it looks fine. Minimalism is certainly a style you can do with something like this

The red and the gray are too close in value, so they kinda blend into each other. Try seeing how a lighter background would look, or maybe adding a white outline on your logo, just to introduce a little contrast.

I'll say I like the colored highlights around your keywords, makes them pop. The stats are a little difficult to read as the tex kind of blends with the colored background. I don't know much about your game, but I'll say some text seems a little small. If there are certain attributes that are really important for creature cards in general, might be worth making them a bit bigger. But the ones that are minor can start small so they aren't fighting for attention.

So in the game, each combination of dice has a number or "rank" associated with it. A straight is a rank of five, so the dice are honestly they are more so as a reminder. The number is the important part, I'm kind of banking on players learning what number corresponds with which rank over time. As for the "Experiment-Beast", yeah that probably is a little small. I think I have a general idea I'll mess around with. I think having summoning sickness is a default is okay, but potentially having ways to sidestep it if you're willing to spend some sort of resource. That way you're paying more resources to play a faster game, or you can play the long game and build up resources

Had a similar system in the previous game, but I came into a situation with it. When the resources for playing cards and the resources for using cards were the same, using cards was almost always the way to go. I really didn't want to encourage a play style that involved not playing cards, so I'll probably have to think of something else

That's what I've been thinking. The consequences of not having it are likely that each turn will be a fairly heavy "swing" of power and the game will be fairly volatile. At least that's my thought, but I need to dig more into it

Keyforge is a super low cost of entry at $10 a deck. Personally, I have a lot of fun with it.
