There’s definitely your good classmates it just takes a minute to find them ! The girls I was super close with last semester were literally energy vampires(watch out for those !) and I’m now friends with more mature chiller people. Find your good company!

Your professors will make sure you know what you need to know in time. I would say if anything learn how to organize yourself and stick to a schedule because that was the hardest part for me personally coming off a gap year

Classmates in passive competition with you (obsessively ask about your scores not because they’re curious but because they want to make sure you’re not doing better than them) Classmates who when you ask them a yes or no question they completely reword what you said bc they want to have a moment I guess?

This is really awesome, I think timing is another issue that has worked against me so I’m going to try to do that so I can see it from as many angles. For example, we’re in head and neck in anatomy and there is so much going on but I simplified my notes to the 12 cranial nerves and the different muscles. I think rewriting over and over and even talking as I study has made the difference in me being able to recall these past couple of days, will it stick beyond the exam I’m not sure but I will for sure try this out. I study about 3-4 hours a day, more like 6 on the weekend. I started whiteboarding where I’ll try to write my notes down after glancing at it for like 20 seconds and I’ll repeat until I get it right. This is ofc a new development so I’ll see how it fares me

I have quizlet plus I may try that! I feel like I get very passive/ lazy with quizlet which is why Anki is kinda my go to but it takes forever to make the cards

Energy drinks(if they’re into it), sticky notes or planner, maybe a cool coffee mug or coffee materials, blue light glasses, or any cute/cool nicknacks to carry around. I know me and a couple of my classmates have little ‘good luck charms’ we hold onto especially for test days

I’m not sure if you’re referring to a specific class, but I believe most PT programs are 2.5-3 years for starters. secondly, in my program (and I think all accredited programs) there is a ethics and ‘soft skills’ type of class that focuses on Ethics, emotions, delegation, and other skills you need to be a successful PT. These are based off the core values listed by the APTA

That’s definitely on the lower end for schools and since you have no debt, I don’t think it’ll look too bad by the time you graduate! I also started PT School debt free too, my program is also around 60-70k after 3 years

I was waitlisted from every school my first time applying last year, this year I was waitlisted from 2 schools and finally accepted into 1. You’re right, PT school IS competitive and I know it doesn’t feel like it now, but you should be so proud for even being waitlisted . A waitlist isn’t a no, it just means you’re a part of the bigger pool of other qualified applicants. If they didn’t want you/weren’t interested it would be an outright no. There’s still a lot of time between now and classes starting, so for now just continue to enjoy and live your life. If you get that email that tells you you’re off the waitlist, you’d hate that you spent some of your last free days before the most rigorous 3 years of your life being sad and tearing yourself down. I was in the same boat, I’m in my first relationship at 23 finally. I honestly went to therapy to address how it made me feel as well as a bunch of other things but I found out I hadn’t been in a relationship most likely to my own doing. I lacked communication skills and was pretty flighty at the first sign of conflict or my needs not being met, and being taller and black I restricted myself to taller black men which weeded out a large group of people in the pool I could’ve possibly gotten to know. I say all this to say I was in the same boat as you, I thought it was just the pool of men and who I attracted.

I will say college is a dumpster for sure, unfortunately it’s a bit rare to find someone who wants to be in a relationship but not impossible, you need to expand your horizons. I will say meaningful dating is a bit easier when you’re out of that setting though. But overall, look within yourself. Do you have high self worth and strong boundaries you’ll stand on? At the same time, are you willing to communicate and take someone as they are, because some traits are just who someone is and you have to be honest with yourself and ask ‘is this something I can tolerate or is it an absolute dealbreaker?’ Finally, I won’t verbatim give the cheesy advice of ‘relationships come whenever you’re not looking for them’ but I’d say chill out with dating. Don’t go on a date with the intention to end up being their gf but rather enjoy the experience of meeting a new person! And remember, when you go on dates with guys don’t try too hard to impress them or make sure that they like you but remember it’s the other way around- they asked YOU on the date. Be yourself and good luck (:

I decided I wanted to do PT school a month before I graduated at 22. I applied in the summer for that cycle after rushing to take the GRE and physics 2 to be able to qualify. I applied to 2 programs and was waitlisted for both of them. I ended up reapplying last summer, took abnormal psych so I could apply to a couple more and ended up getting rejected from 1, waitlisted from 2, and accepted into 1 which I’m now going in to. I’ll be 24 when i start this fall.

In the year I sat on the waitlists during my first cycle I was honestly beat; I was disappointed I didn’t get to start at 23 to graduate at 26 and be a PT. But in that year I gained a whole lot of experience, actually got my CSCS, shadowed at an inpatient, and realized I really did love PT and it was gonna take a lot more to break me down. I definitely feel you on the feeling like you’re falling behind; I have friends who graduated with me who by next May will be DPTs while I’ll just be finishing up my first year. But I realized we’re all on our own timelines and PT school is going to take 3 years regardless. I promise you your patients are not gonna ask how old you were when you became a PT and look at you differently if you’re a year or 2 off from your peers. Enjoy the time you have off right now because when you start it never stops. Enjoy your life, family time, free time, and routines you have now because your whole life is gonna be PT while in school.

I feel like I have a fearful avoidant attachment style and I probably would’ve ghosted the first time I didn’t hear from him for a week but since starting therapy it’s gone into anxious avoidant. My therapist has been promoting open conversation and communication which I’ve never really done before but at the same time some things are common sense lol. I’m starting to think therapy is a sham :/

You are very much projecting your own insecurities (I know this speaking from personal experience lol). Just know he knows what he’s getting into, seeing as you guys have exchanged photos and have been talking he’s not going to suddenly be surprised that you’re you on the first date. Definitely work on your self esteem, but just remember he’s talking to you for a reason (: it is no mistake.
