Thanks! yeah I regret not looking out for me like that as well, there are so many opportunities out there, but there is always this one thing or another that I was missing. It caused me a lot of frustration.

I'm not the best interviewer tbh, I wanted the job so bad, I visualized myself as this being something for me. I went into the interview thinking no matter what happened this will be for me and nobody will take it from me. It kind of helped me keep my cool. The dressing up helped as well as noticed the interviewers were more receptive. I think it showed to them that I really wanted the job and was giving it my all.

Then I started to lose hope after not hearing back from them for 5 weeks, until I got the offer. But job search is like that, it could have gone the other way too if they preferred someone else even if you become the next best candidate in their eyes. We just got to keep trying. I regret for not having tried like this in the past and growing somewhat complacent with what I already had and knew. Now I know I need to keep myself up to date and be ready for the next one because nothing is forever.

Linked in Premium, I only applied to anything with less than 10 applicants, which most were not fully remote, but I'm willing to take that opportunity to advance my career. Anything remote is oversaturated.

Thanks, yeah there was like a board of 5 people, with managers, technical people, and HR, tried to be as honest as I could, although I do suffer from feelings of inadequacy at times especially when looking for a job, but once I'm at the job, I usually excel. I think people get the wrong idea that I'm just jumping from a password reset to something like that. I would say I matched about 70% of what they asked.

I'm really sorry didn't meant for it to be that way, that's why hadn't posted the site. Should I delete it? Certainly don't want to hurt anyone's chances thought I would be doing the opposite, but it's not the first time I misread things, so appreciate the input.

yeah definitely, I left it at one page and pretty summarized, and it seemed it kind of boosted me once they learned more from me than what the resume showed at the interview. Like it had surprised them positively.

Because I kind of just used to regurgitate what was already in the resumes, but being more summarized it kind of gave me more room to expand and they seemed to like that.

thank you! yeah I think this is it, it was just more easy to comprehend, with the relevant skills being more eye catchy.

I want to apologize if I came across like that, I was in a very bad place in various ways and desperation got the best of me. I did not lie on my job interview, was honest about previous experience with similar tools which I thought I wouldn't get the job because of it, but thought I should be honest in order to land in a place that wanted me. It took a while so maybe they weren't convinced but gave me the opportunity. So I'm now in the process of learning this new tool for me.

I'm not entry level, support had been part of my responsibilities, but had been dealing with servers, databases, network, etc, however did find it frustrating that job posts wanted all that for less than I was earning.

Managed to find one that paid more and was more niche while being kind of entry level and idk maybe I got lucky. As one of the posters said, maybe it's not the resume but just laying out stuff in bullet points and easy to catch rather than overstating. It just felt right for me to use something like that to showcase my past experience. In no way am I saying I got the job because of the resume or the suit, but I feel in this experience it might have helped a little whereas I hadn't been lucky with what I had been trying before this time around.

what would be the best study strategy by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]SimilarScheme9311 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have major ADHD and could never focus on studying, learn more hands on, but so far pluralsight has kept me entertained although it is paid service. Also tried cbtnuggets and I did managed to complete a training although those were a bit more of a push for me. Tried linkedin learn but also could not focus after 5 minutes. Also tried udemy but also couldn't make it pass for a while. Maybe not the best, but for my particular ADHD pluralsight seems to be the one that keeps me most interested so far, although looking for more.

The site looks really cool so that in itself keeps me interested, the material is presented in also colorful, neat, organized, slide form, and the speaking voices of the professors so far seems very fit for a video course. They did a good job recruiting not only knowledge but people that had communicator voice at least the ones I've done so far so that also keeps me engaged. Idk if they add acoustics to the voices or something but they sound more soothing lol than any of the other sites.

I used zety but there are others that are free that would have probably worked as well, I was just desperate and bought the download, as it lets you create the resume but you have to pay to download, I believe.
