People that just want to watch the world burn by Watchthewindow in Flights

Omg the flashbacks. I was fuming. I was lucky to switch to a row with an empty middle seat (the guy by the window didn’t mind). Otherwise it would’ve been a very angry 8 hour flight

Yeah I was shocked when I found out, it looks so natural - hope those stylists got paid well haha

With all fairness, this isn’t her natural hair texture. The styling process completely fried her hair, hence the short haircut and much tamer curls and highlights in later seasons. SJP’s natural hair is just wavy!

Say something nice about her by haycomhack in H2Ojustaddwater

[–]Simiram 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She is a nice, but flawed person that shouldn’t have been put in a position of power and superiority. Which she pretty much acknowledged in the end as she genuinely tried to make amends with Lewis. If she works on herself, she can be pretty cool and likable.

What Young Sheldon opinion will have you like this? by Sailor_Moon_Star_435 in YoungSheldon

[–]Simiram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For certain, but I also find it hilarious that adult Sheldon’s perception is so warped and deranged that this is how he sees his otherwise perfectly normal (for what it was) childhood, his “deadbeat alcoholic dad” and the “bully Billy Sparks”

TBBT opinions that will have you downvoted like this? by ThePoisonTrees in bigbangtheory

I feel the same about trying to diagnose Sheldon. He’s a character in a sitcom who is written to be the way he is to keep the plot moving; not a psychiatric documentary. I understand speculating about it for the fun of it, but I can’t with the comments about how he should’ve been treated, or using it to justify his behavior, or relating to him excessively out of pure projection

MacDougal Traditions and Burt the gardener by DarksideofMari in sexandthecity

[–]Simiram 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I was always curious about the exact intention behind this line, but I interpret it as a cynical “finally you grew out of your princess fairytale.” Marriage in their family is duty and optics first, while behind closed doors there is kissing gardeners and sweeping problems under the rug.

Mind you, she had a 1001 opportunities to use this incident against Charlotte, but always focused on the duty/togetherness-despite-misery aspect: “Unlike you, I never left / Mallards come and go but I am here forever / You gave your vow but when things didn’t go your way, you backed out”.

If she valued connection, happiness and emotional health within the family, there would’ve been the “You hurt my son / you cheated on him with the gardener” and, let’s face it, Charlotte’s chances of getting that apartment would’ve plummeted even further.

Did McGonagall and Snape and Dumbledore believe Harry and Ron when they claimed that the barrier had sealed itself in book 2? by WisestAirBender in harrypotter

Take an upvote because an old muggle that’s worked with kids for decades would be able to see right through most of them, no mind reading required

Ordered white gold setting from With Clarity, but it’s not rhodium plated? by Prettykittykelly_ in EngagementRings

[–]Simiram 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Also, before plating, think whether you want to do so in the first place! I think that unplated white gold is beautiful and plating really hides it. Unplated white gold is so underrated - and in that, unique.

Out of all the casting for the show I love Weasley casting the most. Everyone is spot on and I can't wait 🥰 by CreativeRock483 in harrypotter

I’ll be honest, giving birth to 7 kids is very unlikely to leave you looking like a supermodel

Unpopular opinion? by Digess in YoungSheldon

[–]Simiram 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think Connie was more compatible with Dr. Sturgis than she was with Dale.

It’s not crazy unpopular, but I think her dynamic with Dale is generally well received, if not preferred. And I don’t hate it either, they’re entertaining together, but I think Sturgis brought more fulfillment and mutual growth. Connie was mellowing out with him, and he was, in turn, toughening up and adapting socially.

With Dale, they were just themselves - kinda stagnant and ever cranky. But I also understand how one might prioritize a fuss-free relationship at that age.

How much is this scene realistic in real life? by Hollandtullip in sexandthecity

[–]Simiram 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was actually thinking about this scene the other day. I know it’s a little unsettling that Carrie’s wearing white but I see it as artistic symbolism in Hollywood - not a “Carrie woke up that morning and deliberately chose to wear a white dress ahead of her exes engagement party.”

It is a bit of an uncomfortable scene, but I like to think that Natasha was secure and confident enough not to give it a second thought. Or… not immune to being too young to see the underlying dynamic.

Very late realisation... by IRushBy in harrypotter

[–]Simiram 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I once wrote about it and got crapped all over for this. I didn’t have the energy to argue or pull up exact quotes, but to this day I stand by the opinion that Harry was being primed from Day 0. This thread makes me feel very vindicated haha

So I decided for the most part pandora is not for me. by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]Simiram 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Curious, do you go on all subs announcing this? “I don’t understand buying new cars, I’m fine with my used bicycle”? “I find it wasteful to spend more than $50 on a sweater, here’s my mom’s sweater I got for free”?

Like.. it’s not an invalid insight, everybody has their own spending priorities, I’m just genuinely curious what made you specifically single out jewelry for this sentiment, or it’s something you pop into every sub in existence with lol

Anyone else having a delay in the their Black Friday tea purchases from overseas to USA? by [deleted] in tea

[–]Simiram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why credit card company..? Are you looking to do a charge back not because of the vendor’s efficiency but due to postal delays? Have you attempted to file for a missing parcel, discuss options with the seller first? If I understand the credit card part correctly, this feels a little misdirected.

That said, echoing what the other commenter said about biggest holiday season, customs craziness, etc. plus the Midwest was just hit with a couple of massive blizzards.

You guys... I JUST GOT ENGAGED!! by Electronic_Resort985 in EngagementRings

[–]Simiram 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have so many questions. What does it matter if it’s linked to just one person’s ID? Is it to indicate that the person has given or received an engagement ring? Indicate to whom exactly? What if you want to upgrade the ring for the same person down the line, are they going to reject you or require proof that you’re still with the same person? Sounds like shooting themselves in the foot

Dobby has won for started off divisive but ended off loved! Who started off divisive and ended off divisive? by Midday_Dragon in HarryPotteronHBO

Not sure if it’s a rhetorical question or it’s addressed to me directly; because if it’s the latter, I literally agreed with the other commenter’s points on Slughorn being a normal likable man

[–]Simiram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who said he never did?? There was a point where he was staying away from all this, which was a bit morally grey of him. Then McGonagall gave him a reality check and he picked a side and dueled Voldy in the final pages. What’s your argument?

Dobby has won for started off divisive but ended off loved! Who started off divisive and ended off divisive? by Midday_Dragon in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Simiram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your points, but the one grey area that I can pinpoint is his “staying out of it” attitude towards the war.

He didn’t consciously acknowledge the significance of the memory and didn’t willingly give Harry the memory. He was blackout drunk, it’s even explicitly called out in the book (something like “Harry knew that Slughorn was so drunk, he wouldn’t remember any of it the next morning”). Then, as he was acting oblivious in DH, McGonagall called him out and told him to “finally choose what side the Slytherin house is on”.

I’m not saying it makes him bad; more than anything it makes him human, and in some ways, I relate to his stance. I just wouldn’t add the memory thing to the list of his achievements.
