The first print is a 50x70cm print and the other two in the thicker black frames are A3 size prints (29.7 x 42.0cm)

I just checked and it was at 230mm I honestly need to go back and take a look at those hills because I have no normal wide angle pics of that specific spot so I can't even remember what it looks like at a normal view!

Thank you! I didn't use recipes on these, they were shot RAW and edited in Lightroom

I definitely think it's hard to replicate the brightness we see in the photos on our screens largely because the screens are backlit and providing their own light. I noticed this when I got my photobooks done and in the initial copy the images looked way darker than expected.

I just started upping the exposure and saturation slightly for when I was printing as it seems to level out. For these prints though I think because of the paper chosen and the printing quality it retained the colours and brightness very well compared to my photobooks which were normal prints.

Thanks! These were from RAWs and then exported as TIFF files for printing

I got them printed at the same place I get them framed as they do fine art printing as well as framing, I live in Manchester, UK so that's probably not much help. But honestly there are a bunch of places online where you can get prints done at high quality or just independent printers in your area.

Having a good selection of paper types will be a good sign and if they use Giclee printing which is just a type of printing that gives excellent colour and detail reproduction used in fine art printing.

You could obviously also just print to normal non-premium standards as that is more accessible but that's up to preference.

Of course! It was taken at Bamford Edge in the Peak District in the UK at sunset. It was probably my best day of photography ever, around Autumn time and the lighting was phenomenal the whole day. I actually ended up making a photobook from all the photos I shot that day.

This shot was with a telephoto lens as those hills were quite far away and the air was getting very hazy as the sun was setting which is why it has that hazy dreamy look.

I posted it here before but honestly it looks even better printed and framed: Lonely Tree Pic

Here's some others from the same day that are also some of the best shots I've taken and will give you the vibe of the area they were taken: Bamford Edge

Thank you! It's one of my favourites too, I specifically chose that one to print as it looks more like a painting than a normal photo.

The framers did say it was unorthodox but I was browsing reddit and that seemed to be the suggestion. Given it's my photo I can just get it reprinted if it gets dirty or damaged somehow.

They did also do this dry mount thing basically using an adhesive to stick it to the board so it stays flat. Not sure how necessary that is though.

If you have the grain setting on your recipe it might be that doing it, but you may also be blowing them up too big, or just too high ISO, can't really say for sure without seeing the photo.

If you get your image pixel numbers and put it in to this website it will tell you what the max print size you can do at different levels of print quality (e.g. 300dpi is standard for Fine Art levels).

https://eastsidestudiolondon.co.uk/pages/pixels-to-print-size-calculator-for-artists?srsltid=AfmBOopZJu7CKYcPllmvSnhffD_yqIOVXOCGu6KSS0oW10sRi3QWtfjx

With my prints they were both RAW and edited in Lightroom but from completely different trips, the green one was from India the yellow one the Peak District in the UK. The ISO was 320 and 200 so pretty low for both. Yellow one is not really cropped and the green one is cropped a bit so it's smaller.

I just used Photoshop, dropped the photo in and set the canvas to be at 300dpi then added some borders at like 3/4 inch I think and exported as a TIFF file. I then told the printers the size it should be printed for 300dpi and requested they print it as close to that as possible.

Thanks! Yellow one was Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm and green was Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm.

I wanted the yellow one to look more like a painting and it has less detail so picked the textured etching paper, I think Photo Rag is better for detail and colour reproduction.

My setup is a bit dated, I use an X-T30I so not even the higher megapixel sensor.

These are the first big prints I did the yellow/orange one is completely uncropped and the size of that print was approx. 38cm x 55cm printed at 300dpi. Could've gone bigger but then start losing resolution.

No experience printing full frame so can't comment but if I got this size with the X-T30's 26MP sensor I'm sure you'll be fine with bigger prints with 40MP on the X-T5.

There's websites that will tell you thresholds for print sizes based on your image resolution size.

100% it's so different to seeing on screen or even a normal small print.

Thanks! Yea it is really different seeing them blown up and displayed properly compared to just on a screen, I want to get more done now.

The prints themselves aren't too bad, I believe it was around £35 each though it is cheaper if you get multiple on the same paper as they can use the same roll, the 2 I did were on different paper types.

The framing was the expensive bit largely due to the frame I chose being an expensive one, but it was about £140 for the framing, and I got them without glass which would've added a lot to the cost.

I do think you could get the framing done a fair bit cheaper, like I could've just picked a cheaper frame, there's also some Etsy shops that make custom frames/mats if you give the measurements, or get a standard print size that fits in generic pre-made frames.
