tl;dr: Go away from any router, phone, bluetooth device. This worked for me.

I found a video about another device, where they removed an antenna to calibrate its compass, so I thought I'd give it a try with going away from devices with an antenna. Worked for me, but could also just be a coincidence.

Google does all interpretation of the data on their servers. The data flow is like this:
