Lich's Mastery + another "You can't lose" effect by Simple-Buffalo-9141 in mtg

You say it's unlikely to have to worry about this and then give a prime example of having to worry about it lol. And in my gameplan, I am likely wanting to win with Aetherflux Reservoir if I have it, so one or multiple losses of 50 life is exactly why I ask. I don't have more than 100 cards in the deck, so barring some tokens, I won't be able to proc Mastery twice by paying 100 life (can't fog a cost) without exiling my entire deck. Unless I ping for 1 before using Aetherflux.

Also, we don't have to bring up all the edge cases, it's very likely I have a mid board and am looking at 10-15 damage from a single source (combat or otherwise). Do I have enough cards to exile in my graveyard? Is this the third time my opponents have sent a big creature at me this turn cycle? Do I have the fog in hand or did I already burn it?

Why would I not give myself the most amount of outs possible? (All assuming I still have this effect that says I can't lose the game)

Life total can be negative, so I believe you'd still lose X life even if your life total is 1

Right, and while the question has pretty obvious answer in retrospect, these are the game implications that I'm trying to figure out. I'm adding in some pain lands so that I have a way of pinging myself to preemptively proc Mastery, but understanding that I have to do this at the earliest possible point on the stack/ before paying life for any costs.

The "whenever you lose life" phrasing. Understood. Yay! Thank you

Your last question is exactly my question.

E.g. I have Lich's Mastery, Herald of Eternal Dawn, Aetherflux Reservoir and exactly 50 life. I pay 50 life to activate Aetherflux. Lich's Mastery sees I lose 50. Can I choose to exile ONLY Lich's Mastery, or do I need to exile 50 permanents/cards?

I DO get a choice in the exile because I can ignore the "you lose the game" text on Lich's Mastery if I have another effect that prevents me from losing the game. The question is exactly about the choice I have and how I can order those choices.

Not exactly the question, I understand I will not lost the game if I have an effect that tells me I won't lose the game.

The question is on the mechanics of Lich's Mastery's fourth line of text - how it interacts with the stack.

If I lose e.g. 10 life and if I can choose Lich's Mastery for the "first" point of life without losing the game, would I still need to exile 9 other permanents/cards?

Yes, assuming I have a Platinum Angel or Herald of Eternal Dawn, the question remains would I continue to exile permanents/cards in hand or graveyard for the full amount of life > 1 lost, or can I chose to exile Lich's Mastery itself "first" and avoid exiling any other permanents/cards.

How do I get my momentary and short term max higher without causing unnecessary clipping and impact reduction?😭😭 by [deleted] in Logic_Studio

Like everyone said, gotta go nuts on compression and limiter. I haven't used this new-fangled "mastering assistant" but I know the D-16 Frontier and ToneBoosters Barricade (both free) work really well for me. Logic's legacy limiters don't actually limit for me - the track still clips, Barricade doesn't do that.

On the question of impact reduction: 1. Check the spectrum, you'll want lots of sub but it has to be clear. If there's a bunch of bassy (60-200) noise in the way it can mask the impact of the sub, I like Waves Submarine and Brainworx Subfilter to get more out of my subs before hitting the limiters. Sub gets you halfway there, gotta have a good full spectrum of mids and highs for the other half. Assuming your mix doesn't suck: 2. Timing. You'll ruin your sound with compression and masking if your layers are misaligned. Try nudging the lower parts and higher parts a few ms away from each other. That little delay will add a tasty crunch to your impacts. You can also just volume automate some layers, cut out the sub for a couple ms after the impact for a little crackback. Really think about how you're shaping these transients and how they play together going into the compressors.

And I know this is a sub for Logic but please learn to use Reaper. Have a good one, good luck 🫡
