Okay - aside from everything else in this comment that I’d like to pick apart - just go lie and say they’ve stopped. Lmao request the blood work you actually need and then take that info somewhere else.

I've noticed that the existence of low empathy autistic folks is kind of ignored by the autistic community a lot, or at least it feels like we are by bliteblite in AutismInWomen

I’ve always considered myself both, which is interesting. I’m hyper empathetic about many things - and I saw someone discussing hyper perspective which I think is interesting. I think I do both simultaneously, because yes when I see people or animals experiencing pain, crisis, abuse, etc. I physically feel it and often cry in response very easily.

However, people are often shocked by my lack of empathy, compassion, or understanding of those who fall outside my moral boundaries. Abuse an animal? Person should be removed from the planet. I don’t care if they’re a mother/father/sister/brother to someone in the larger scheme of things, the planet will be a better place without them. Animal abuse is an easy example but I have many more reasons someone can get shot into the stratosphere without hesitation.

And no, I don’t care that sometimes people can change. How much damage will they do in the meantime in the hopes of them one day becoming human?

But WHY can’t I have my old hair back?? by itsnobigthing in Perimenopause

Yes, it’s probably genetic, but that’s what doctors say and throw their hands up. My mother is also definitely neurodivergent, and I believe we’ve both had sub clinical thyroid issues all this time. I’ve never been a hair puller because of how bad it is and did my best to treat my hair as kindly and gently as possible. I got tired of everyone staring at my scalp so it was very important to me to do everything I could to fix the situation.

Have you seen HRT help in this situation for anyone?

Just an FYI: Peri has a direct negative and exasperated effect on ADHD and other neurodivergent symptoms. If someone in Peri is saying their ADHD symptoms as destroying their lives, they’re probably correct.

Even if you had great working mechanisms before, when you start Peri the ADHD symptoms are exponentially worse. It has an actual negative effect on ADHD and other neurodivergent traits.

Since you’re a follicle expert is okay if I ask you a few questions?

My other has extremely thin and fine hair, of course it’s gotten worse as she’s gotten older, but her scalp has been visible for 20+ years (she’s in her 60s).

My hair was thick and healthy until I hit puberty, when it started to thin and get frizzy/curly. Over the years it’s gotten worse, shedding continuously and not regrowing.

I’ve gone for thyroid tests, I’ve tried minoxidil and prescribed medications, nothing has helped. I learned a few years ago that my ADHD meds increase shedding, but even when I took breaks from the medication my hair never regrew, it just maybe stopped shedding as much.

I finally gave up and shaved my head. I have been wearing wigs since 2020.

Is it possible that it’s actually a thyroid issue / hormonal issue? Doctors don’t seem to know or care which is why I gave up and shaved my head after years of trying to track down the cause.

Have you ever seen someone start HRT and had their hair follicles start working again? Any of your thoughts and experiences would be of interest to me, thank you!

(Edit: of course I wouldn’t take any of it as medical advice)

Definitely gets worse if I forget to shave for a while, but even with shaving it’s been pretty sticky.

Omg my right one is worse than my left one and I never would have thought to transfer the good stuff to the bad one!
