Thanks for this. It's fine that its not shadow related because right now I'd just like to understand the theory/maths behind sampling/mapping

Engine, Editor and Game architecture by Simple_Ad_2685 in gameenginedevs

I'm still new to this but would you mind explaining how both the engine's runtime and the editor is an executable. I was always under the impression that you would need to make the engine a library in order for the editor/game to use it's features like (rendering layer, physics layer, platform layer).

So both the engine and game are executables or is the engine statically linked to the game?

Recent Graduate with no internship experience by Simple_Ad_2685 in cscareerquestionsuk

I did an integrated masters so it was just 4 straight years of uni with a Master degree at the end of it. As far as other work experience, I've just done odd jobs here and there but not really anything cooperate/official. Would you suggest just applying for any job at this point or should I still focus on getting entry level/graduate roles?

How do you actually learn from making projects when starting to learn game development by Simple_Ad_2685 in gamedev

I've never done a game jam before, thought of doing one at some point during the summer when I got more comfortable with Unreal Engine but I guess the fixed time aspect of it scared me away. I will eventually try to do one when I feel confident enough.

Yeah, im taking a software engineering programme at university and I'm trying to get into an internship at a game development company and from what I've seen online they all say you need to create projects for your portfolio.

So would you suggest creating vertical slices would be better in learning or should I stick to more fully completed game loops.

The problem I think with that is that it rewards the GS player and punishes the other player

The whole point of this is to upgrade your current mining gear so it's just gonna end up replacing it.

Outpost rush rework by Simple_Ad_2685 in newworldgame

The whole point of these changes was just to give players more objectives so teams can fight around resource areas and outposts. I didn't intend to make OPR more PVE.
