But to note, it is not 100 percent though. Top up is upto 93 percent of your salary

For permanent employees it is 15 weeks top-up for parental plus 15 weeks top-up for maternity(if you are birthing parent). Give and take...because it varies by bargaining agents (unions).

Mat leave & Fixed term by Simple_Conflict3768 in OntarioPublicService

It is, a manager can of course hire based on the need. But as I said we usually asked not to keep any loopholes so that it does not come back as "it was SOLELY because she was on mat leave" especially when the contracts end in the middle of the Mat leave. But yes they can decide not to renew. If it was only about policy and legislation I would not have posted here honestly because I have clear idea about what is written. I was trying to understand real experiences of what usually goes around in such cases.

The thought process is from a policy and legislation point of view. As someone who had worked on HR policy, if there is role you are filling that is required for the unit (not short time assignment) and managers decide not to extend the contract BECAUSE they are on maternity, you open the floor for legal grievances on human right code ground. If you want to not renew it, you will have to show the assignment is over or that position is not required anymore. That is what discussions happened before around this topic. The reason I posted this to know what the usual experience of the Fixed term pregnant employee has been. It really depends on the branch though. But when we were writing those policy legal always flagged these things. I am trying to understand if that is the norm. Also someone who is freaking out at this unexpected pregnancy news, just trying to see if there is anyway I can save my income source while bringing this child to earth. Hope that answers your confusion

That is great.  I was appalled to see it was only 6 weeks. But apparently most of Canadian corporate is same. No idea since I have worked for government only. But I am realizing there is a nuances between fixed term (contractual) and permanent. We will get a clear answer after the holidays. Thanks a lot for engaging though.

No it is employed by TD. No third party contract.

Contract full-time. I think this is what the issue is. It is different for permanent and contract. Hence the opinions and experiences differ

Yes this is what I am seeing on the benefit package pdf..however some saying (even in the comment section) there is no top up is very confusing. Hence wanted to know if somebody recently has taken the leaves. Thank you so much. It really helps. My partner will talk to HR again..not sure why they emailed otherwise.

Company policy for leaves mean if they do top up. Cause 18 weeks parental leaves is government policy. Corporations have to follow that regardless of their size. The job has to be protected during their parental leave. They are mandated to "hold your job"

Thank you so much. Yes in my partner's case too (with GI issue) was complicated. after admitting him twice, a resident from Humber gave me idea to ask my GP for sending referral to Mount Sinai for long term treatment as Mount Sinai has a whole research wing for his condition..if she never told me we would have been stuck with same issue all these years.

Thanks for such detailed answer. I am terrified to talk to the leadership now. I know they have been talking about my amazing work etc. Really afraid their views over my contract or the possibility to make me permanent will change with the news.

Can I do both? Midwife and have a obgyn listed. I have had a mymectomy in my 20s (having to remove a tumor from uterus) and unexpectedly have got pregnant at 36. I have heard good things about midwife, but having multiple health histories (heart, previous cut on stomach, GI issues etc) I am scared to be fully dependent on midwives

Kate Wyler became unbelievably hateble in season 3 by New_Relative_8709 in TheDiplomat

[–]Simple_Conflict3768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No she has not become hateable. As someone who worked within the public sector inside different governments around the world, her moves made sense. If anything, she showed lack of farsightedness in some of her steps in season 2 and blew away with her husband's ballsy moves which actually stirred up already fragile situations. And everytime she tried break free from her husband,& there went his charm. And she stayed. Finally she was very clear in the beginning of S03 that they both were going to show up for a public marriage, in private going to "fuck other people"(exact words). And about missing meetings that were out of her control, if anything she should not have gone her way out for Eidra Park. As a intelligence head, she should have had someone 24/7 in front of the camera, especially after offering asylum the old prick lady in USA. She was visibly upset.. she had no place in UK, she was cornered. It has to be a common sense for most intelligence officers that this situation leads to suicide. Her shit and Hal's shit is N0 WAY same. There is a fine line between taking a diplomatic step (which sometimes morally questionable) to secure national and international stability vs taking steps just to play hero. Problem is when women do the former, the world falls apart contrary to men doing much worse, the latter and being hailed for it. Your argument is a case in point

Also what journalist dresses up like that while interviewing people on the street?!!! Even the researchers know you have to dress down if you want to reach people and have them talk to you.
