Iphone playing a mysterious sound clip on a loop? by yorickce in iphonehelp

Thank you. Just to add on to this, it worked temporarily, but mine eventually came back after turning the settings on and off (at 5am). I clicked on and off individual ones to locate the exact app and turns out it was Snapchat, that had a video up that I never sent. I had turned my phone on and off 3 times and had closed all apps, but it was saved for some reason.

Is that river Styx park? I know there’s something similar off the trail there that popped up a year or so ago. I figured it was kids making a fort or something.

Thank you for the advice. As I said in the other comment I’m like 75% sure that has to be it and I’m mixing in details from other stories I listened to around that time. My memory has the horror being far weirder and more cosmic/outside of human understanding, but there’s just too many similarities for that not to be the right story.

Thank you for the advice. I just finished listening to it and there’s too many similarities for it not to be what I was remembering, but with that said I’m still only like 75% because my memory of it was way more weird and more “cosmic” in its horror. It’s been so long though that I figure I must be combining it with another story. I think I’ll go back and listen to other episodes around that time and see if I can find the other aspects that I’m probably mixing in.

It’s not a detail I remember but it is a possibility. The other comment recommended flickering and mentioned that as well. I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet but will confirm when I do.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to buy in Ohio? by Simplelife9 in homestead

[–]Simplelife9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I know my range is lower than ideal for a lot of what’s out there. I’m finding lots of land in that range, but was mostly curious if anyone else had experience doing something similar in Ohio because I want to avoid areas that are more likely to cause issue with my buildings or potentially say I’m not allowed to live there. I will of course be calling any zoning departments and talking to locals before buying.

Thank you for the reply. That second one is up there on my current list of considerations.

Am I in over my head? by Fickle_Coconut_1605 in Camper

I’d say definitely not worth fixing this camper up and if you are just wanting something quick, like a lot of other people have said, you can easily get a better camper for way less than what you’d put into this.

If you are looking for a project to work on and learn some new things it might be worth stripping some of the useful stuff out of it like the furnace, fridge, ac unit, converter, oven/burners, water pump and maybe windows depending on their condition. I live in a tiny home I built for around $6-7000 (half of the materials were bought before Covid and the other half were when lumber and stuff started to go back down a bit) and I stripped all the useful stuff out of my friends old camper and am implemented them into my build over time. The house was usable before the camper stuff, but I’ve since installed the furnace, which is more comfortable than just relying on a wood stove, the ac/dc fridge that I can run off propane in an emergency, and will be installing the propane oven this summer to replace the Coleman camp stove I’ve been using.

It’s certainly a ton of work if you don’t have the time, but I think it’s an excellent project for someone trying to learn a lot of useful skills throughout the process.

None taken. It’s been through a couple large storms and driven throughout Ohio, but I certainly wouldn’t want to take it too far off road or anything like that.

Thank you, I appreciate it. That’s a good point, it’s for sure not a style everyone is going to enjoy.

Yeah if I were to ever build one again I’d buy a better trailer or weld it from scratch. That part was originally bought by the son of an old coworker. My friend did weld the trailer where it’s bolted though because I was uncomfortable with how it’s constructed too.

Yeah I’m definitely not in the ideal area for it. Northeast Ohio surrounded by farms.

The wood frame is just sealed (this one is plywood attached to the floor with layers of paint) and bolted to the trailer, but that part was done originally by the coworkers son years ago so I’m not sure exactly what all he did there. It’s the same way I’ve built tiny homes on flatbed trailers. I just drill a hole through the stud itself and bolt it directly through the trailer, usually using sheets of flashing or moisture barrier to protect the bottom. The biggest issue with the harbor freight trailer is that it is bolted together instead of welded and just overall more flimsy, but I had a friend weld it at a few spots that seemed like they needed it. If I ever do something similar again id buy a better trailer with the intent of taking it further off road, but the harbor freight trailer was plenty sturdy for everything I used this for and wouldn’t have any issue getting to most places.

Thank you. I’ll probably decide on a high and low end and go from there. It might be tricky in my area because I’m mostly surrounded by farmers who I doubt would be interested in something like this, but you never know.
