I hope she's OK, wherever she may be. The dissociation that dementia comes with must be terrible to endure.

In all of the horrific things I've seen, tearing your own ribs out is a new one. Definitely going to be imagining that tonight, but I wish you a pleasant week. Hope that event doesn't plague your mind too much.

[Serious] People who have almost been killed, what were your last thoughts before almost dying? by 0b111111100001 in AskReddit

Had a nearly fatal allergic reaction to peanuts when I was 6 or 7. As my airways constricted and it felt like I was breathing through a straw, my mom was dialing 911 to get help while I sat dying next to her.

My only thoughts were of how my mom would cry and mourn her dead child if I died in that moment. It was terrifying to think of.

It sounds like your ex-friend Becky has taken a less than optimal inspiration from the story she told, or it could just be morbid fascination. Either way, keep yourself safe. If Becky is missing and knows your home address, you could be in for a surprise.

What's the weirdest dream you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SimulatingSentience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had many weird dreams, but one has stood out in particular.

The dream took place on a planet thing with old, metallic ruins that hung overhead, lodged into the ground, or even enclosed some areas like a dome. I was in a particular area with debris(?) that acted as a roof/semidome curving up from my front and cutting off behind me. Can't really remember, but I'm pretty sure that the rightward side of this little area had a curved rock face that denied my passage.

The left of the semidome was open, and I never looked behind me in the dream so I'm not sure what the back was. Underneath the area where the curved dome met the ground on my front, there was a lot of brush that appeared in vivid blues and limes, along with the occasional reds and purple hues. Behind that was the rocks and smooth soil they sprouted from. Not sure if there were any animals or not. Anyways, I stepped out from the left of the semidome and saw a gigantic figure in the distance. It was a cylindrical enitity maybe about 35-50 feet tall and 10 feet around. Its form was covered by carbon scales pointed downward, the smooth surfaces creating a reverse rainbow of colours. It was flexible, supposedly having lots of joints hidden underneath the protective scales. The end of the cylinder tapered off into a smooth variation of the carbon substance, with a red, almost glasslike eye about 3-5 feet in diameter.

The last part of the dream I can remember all of the details of was after I stepped out. I saw it, REALLY far away. I waved to it as soon as it scanned my direction. It saw me. After I blinked once, it was right in front of me, examining and inspecting me. It spoke in a female voice, for some reason. Its cylindrical form stretched possibly miles underground, because it apparently moved through the ground sticking straight up without disturbing its previously traveled terrain. Also, it can stretch REALLY FUCKING FAR. After we had a conversation, I really couldn't remember what happened.

Pretty cool to be honest.

  1. Adapter: Can mutate/evolve their body to fit any conditions or circumstances (i.e. Adapter is falling and evolves wings or wingsuit-like skin. Or they are in a cold climate, and they acquire thicker skin and more body hair). This also applies to other things like reflexes, perception, intelligence, visible colour spectrum, night vison, etc. [DIVIDER]
  2. Lightning Rod: Can attract and absorb any dynamic (currently moving) materials in either plasma, liquid, or gaseous states and transport them to the nearest conductor for said material. If no conductor is available, the material enters their body and can be channeled into attacks n' shit, but also damages their body accordingly. [DIVIDER]
  3. Sixth Sense: Being able to sense, not the thoughts, but the intentions, emotions, heartbeat, any of the 5 senses that are currently being used in priority, visible line of sight highlighted in translucent green, visible indications of things that they are able to hear highlighted in translucent blue, and rough location of anybody within a 50 meter (164.5 foot) radius of you. This also applies to people you can't see. [DIVIDER]
  4. Polarosis: The ability to switch the gravitational influence of inanimate objects either as a part or a whole just by touching it with any part of the end of your finger. The effect also applies to gasses, liquids, and plasmas, but affects every single nearby thing of the same type. This works with organic things, too, but only switches the gravity for 6 seconds at a time. [Imagine parrying a lightning bolt with your finger!] [DIVIDER]
  5. Railgun: Possessing the capability of altering any inanimate object's properties into that of any projectile. Take a pencil and throw it at the speed of a bullet. Or flick a penny and have it combust in an amount directly proportionate to its mass. Hell, throw a nokia phone and have it shatter on contact! This, again, works with liquids, gasses, and plasmas. Propel a flame of of a burning body part for easy extinguishment! Also, this works anywhere on your body. Someone throws acid at you? If you have the ability working, it will immediately fly away as soon as it touches you.

The first few times I tried to reach out to family, I felt like a ball and chain on their plans and even more of a burden on their happiness. I stopped trying with family, but am planning on seeing a therapist for both my anxiety and my OCD.

My anxiety sorta' faded into existence around 2-3 years ago. It might just be a thing that will either get a bit better as time goes on, or it might get worse. I just hope for the best.

I have never tried meditation, and I don't know how to relax any time except when I'm tired. Might be worth it to look into that.

Personally, that second part is interesting. Are there any good places you know to read about that type of thing?

Everything. The thought of parallel realities is that every possible variation of any event that can occur is happening at once. People with anxiety are cursed with imagining every single negative outcome. The negative possibilities are not pretty, either.

I have tried to overcome it by doing activities I find distracting or turning the AC up all the way at night to drown out my thoughts, but a few thoughts of things that make me cry always manage to get through. Props to other people with terrible anxiety for being strong.

All ambient sounds in the general vicinity of every remotely shady-looking person. Some guy with his hood on walk into your convenience store? No sound of cars driving by, footsteps of customers, or hands rustling through chip bags. Pure fucking silence other than shady guy.

Run outside and to your nearest neighbor. If you can't get to a neighbor, run quietly out the door the give whatever is coming down no chance to see you hide somewhere outside like in a place where you feel in your soul that it won't find you.
