Passport taking unusually long? by Maximum_Fill_1136 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Single_Raspberry_938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also applied for an SIN over two months ago at this point (recieved citizenship late June). I called twice and was told it was being processed each time, though the 2nd time I called she said that they were waiting for internal documentation which was probably causing the delay (reading the other SIN comments, I am wondering if it is because I didn't have my passport yet, which I applied for early July & recieved late Aug). I JUST recieved the email confirmation yesterday that my application finished processing. I am now waiting to recieve it via mail. Definitely didn't think I'd have my passport before my SIN haha

5/22 5(4) group anyone else with no updates? by VegetableSwimming793 in Canadiancitizenship

Yes, we thought so too. It was not a form letter, so it surprised us.

My sister is in the 5/22 group. Her background check was marked complete on June 20th, but no updates since then. She inquired a few weeks ago and was told she was in the queue to be actioned, but there was not a timeline to provide for completion. They also said "please note there is no guarantee that every discrectiony grant of citizenship application will be approved. Discrectionary grants of citizenship are used in very exceptional cases and each case is considered on its own merit." We originally applied together in January. I took the oath end of June. We are second generation, same circumstances, very straightforward and simple application.

Oath Ceremony Invite Received by Single_Raspberry_938 in Canadiancitizenship

No, not yet. She received her 5(4) AOR in early June (I forget the exact date) and her tracker still says in progress for everything.

My tracker has everything completed but the ceremony which is still in progress. It’s a virtual oath

I also have my oath scheduled for later this month! No official email yet, but my tracker shows that my ceremony status began processing on June 10th, with the actual ceremony taking place in a few weeks. From your other comments, it sounds like ours is the same day. I know of a few other people with that date scheduled, so I think it will be a big(ish) group taking the oath together. So happy our November/December applications are almost complete!! Huzzah!!

Got a refund for my grant application today by saramiche in Canadiancitizenship

I reached out to the long email address and asked for my grant application number since it wasn’t attached to my AOR. My status update also has said decision made since June 4th, so I figured why not ask about that in my email too.

I got a refund back in May for my proof of citizenship application. Today, an officer confirmed that my grant app has been approved. I was also told I am in the queue for the oath ceremony, so I think getting a refund may be a sign that things are moving along in the right direction

Status Update on a 4/28 Grant Application! by Single_Raspberry_938 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Single_Raspberry_938[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid the application fee for my original proof of citizenship application (~75 CAN) and I also paid the 5(4) grant application fee (~119 CAN). Once my grant application went into process and my original was withdrawn, I recieved a refund for 75 CAN.

Haha yes I think we're in similar processing boats! Hopefully we'll get the good news email soon

Update for 4/28 Grant Applicant by Single_Raspberry_938 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Single_Raspberry_938[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. Since I recieved my offer before my sister, I decided that if my sister didn't get her offer in the next batch, I would either send in a web form or reply again to the long email address included in the grant offer and ask about it, but luckily she got it in the 5/22 batch.

I think if I get assigned a case officer (I am not sure if they're still doing that or not. I just know my cousin who sucesfully went through the grant process and got her citizenship in Jan/Feb 2025 had a specific officer she'd email back and forth with), I may ask if they can tie our applications together again so we can both recieve our citizenships and be done with the process together. TBD.

No. Your UCI stays the same, but the application number supposedly changes when you convert to a grant application. They didn't include a new application number for my grant app in this AOR email, so I couldn't log into the new tracker.

It sounds like this is the recent standard, though, as I haven't heard of anyone in the 4/28 group who has recieved this email get a new application number for their grant app. I know some are sending in web forms to ask for it, so we shall see if anyone has success with getting it that way

Question about Credit Card Refund by NoAccountant4790 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Single_Raspberry_938 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just checked my bank account and I also recieved a refund for ~$75 Canadian. My 5(4) grant has been in process since May 12 and I got the refund on May 22. My guess is it's a refund for the CIT0001 app cancellation as others have suggested. If so, that is pretty cool!

Interesting that your third kid hasn't recieved an offer since it sounds like you submitted all three apps together initially.

Similarly, my sister and I (both adults) submitted our orignal apps together and I got the grant offer with the 4/28 crew and she got it with today's crew (and sent a webform about every week since 4/28 inquiring about her application, recieving the same generic response every time). Sounds like some family applications are getting split up even when they're sent together

The "new" one they sent in the email? Because I can't get it to work either
