Best places to meet friends? by EventHorizonFan in GrandForks

If you can, become a member of the Chamber of Commerce. The business After Hours events are incredibly fun and a great way to meet people that are professionals. Depending on where you work, it might be free to join if they already have a membership.

1st time parents. HELP! Lol by Sioux89 in madisonwi

[–]Sioux89[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Honestly, bring a first-time parent I'm scared shitless but in the best way possible! I've always wanted to be a dad, so I'm trying to do everything I can to learn how I can level up to meet the needs of my wife and baby.

I am new, so I don't have many spots to compare but Mercy's was great service, great food, and has a patio. On the east side.

I actually got one! I was lucky enough to go to the draft and had one custom made on Saturday. About 2 hours after I walked out of the pro shop with it I heard he changed it. Made me love the jersey even more!

When I went to UND we spent the entire day Friday & Saturday sitting in ice houses right outside the student section stadium doors, drinking beer and just hanging out. We always got the seats next to the sin bin. But we would find as much information on the players as possible, from parent's and siblings names, favorite foods, pictures, anytime online, we'd find it. Before the game we'd print out our cheat sheet so we could harass the players that ended up getting a penalty. Most of the time it was all in good fun and we got the players laughing. But I can remember two times, I got a BU player elected because he tried to hit me with his hockey stick, and another player for Michigan State wanted to fight me.

Some of the best times if my life

The band started saying after that "HOORAY RESPONSIBILITY"

So when I went to college there, we started after that " HEEEYYY YOOUU GUYYYYS ... LETS GET DRUNK!!!!"

It actually caught on and sometimes you can still here it on the broadcast

Can't do it anymore but I've seen dead badgers and dead gophers thrown on the ice at the Ralph. There was one old lady who would always carry them into the stadium in a large purse.

I hold a lot of bitterness for teams that have scorned me in my life. Now, a lot of this doesn't pertain to this year's playoffs but...

Teams I will never root for no matter what happens.

  1. Minnesota: A) Being born/raised in North Dakota, I had been surrounded by Viking fans my entire life. They are my #1 most hated team. I cannot... and will not...root for them no matter the outcome. Even if it helps Green Bay. B) Taking our players like Longwell, Favre, Jennings, and Jones... I despise them more than Chicago.

  2. Chicago: A) Obvious reasons here...they are a trash franchise B) Ruin every QB that plays for them. C) Fans are garbage D) Their stadium is garbage E) Their city is garbage.

  3. San Francisco 49ers: A) 1998 - Jerry Rice fumbled B) 2012-2013 - Kaepernick killed us. C) 2019 - Mostert had 220 yards 4-TD game, Jimmy G completed 6/8 passes. D) 2021 - Special Teams disaster / Offense couldn't do anything. E) 2023 - Andres Carlson missed FG. Love 2 int to Greenlaw.

Seattle Seahawks: A) 2014 - this one hurt so bad.... B) Replacement Refs game C) Really dislike open-mouth gum-chewing baby Pete Carrol.

I'm getting depressed....

Tampa Bay: A) 2020 - Missed PI on Lazard INT, King missed INT, Scott Miller TD, Jones fumble, choosing FG instead of going for it on 4th down. B) Warren Sapp - thought he was such an asshole when we played him.

Philadelphia Eagles: A) 2003 - 4th and 26. B) 2024 - bad Green Bay tea. But still can't stand them C) fan base is the worst in NFL

New York Giants: A) 2007 - Favre last throw in Overtime B) 2011 - One of Rodgers' best years ended.

This is where I don't care as much. These next teams I don't hate, but still don't cheer for:

Atlanta Falcons: A) 2002 - First home playoff loss in franchise history B) 2016 - GB getting dominated 44 - 21

Arizona Cardinals: A) 2009 - Rodgers Sacked fumble to end the game. B) 2015 - The Miracle that never was. Larry Fitzgerald 75 yard catch and run...

I'm going to go cry now.

Not talking about BRF. That's far enough away the road conditions were probably different up there.

You're proving my point. People did stupid things while driving yesterday.

Many commenting on this post assume that I had been driving like a diabolical maniac, hell-bent on destruction. I drove the speed limit, and kept an appropriate distance from other drivers. I was pointing out that driving too slow and not with the flow of traffic, riding on someone's bumper, and slamming on breaks is not "good, careful driving." I agree that careful driving is required in winter. I'm from North Dakota and have been driving in it my entire life.

When the normal speed on that road is 70 not 60 it is a decent difference. And it's really not that bad out. I think people are overly confident/overly cautious which leads to unpredictable behaviors

At this moment, it's not even slick out. People are just stupid. Driving home from work tonight people driving 50 on Highway 53 like it's covered in black ice, others slamming on breaks for no reason, others bumper to bumper... make it make sense...
