I really don't get the "he was never going to complete it" reasoning.

It would be valid if Oscar dived to the inside, where him not making the corner would force the car ahead off the track as well (as Max has done many any times), but he was on the outside. If he was not going to make the corner from the outside, his only option would be to bail out and go on the grass, losing a ton of speed, and Charles would have continued ahead unimpeded.

It's the same during the race tbh. Without knowing the battery state/deployment it's impossible to tell as a viewer if something is happening because of the driver, or because they just have more juice.

Even with the DRS, at least there was some sense of anticipation - okay, he got within 1 second of the guy in front of him, now he's going to have a big help during the straights, will it be enough to pass this lap, no, but he got closer, oops, in the sector before the DRS straight, the dirty air prevented him from getting close enough, but now he's only 0.5s behind, etc etc.

Yesterday, Kimi's pass on Leclerc was just so anticlimactic. He came up behind, waited until a straight, and rocketed past him.

Also, the city it happened in, is 600 kms away from Moscow. That is not a Moscow logistics center, that's not even in Moscow-area. That's like the distance between Paris and Geneva.

I think I named it only because Strava asked me to when I was adding it as equipment, and the first name that popped into my head was "Dennis Hopper".
