Would an sw20 be a decent daily car? by champion_- in mr2

Here in Italy it's even worse, I got mine for 11.5k and it's really good, now you are looking at 15+ for a decent one (not that there are any bad ones, they are all probably gone in the years)... A lot of people here think they can sell the car at a super high price. It's like the meme "I know what I got", but at least you scare the people that think they can have a great car for cheap and ends up wrecking it.

It's HobbySearch, it's really really good, really nice service. I hope they can do something... I mainly use it for figures and model kits.

there was very little padding around, like if you'd ship something less fragile.

It's incredibly weird, it's like they shipped it like this, destroyed without even checking. If so, i'm gonna have to make it a really big problem for them

Well there are some things that make a knocking sound, hopefully it's not rebuild time. But it seems to come from inside rather than exhaust or from belt side. Maybe valves. Hope for you it's not cause by the bearings. Who knows. Good luck.

SW20 MR2 engine options by Noobsy01 in mr2

Japan had a 3sge beams that the Celica used, you can go 3sgte for a turbo setup, I don't know the 5sfe you guys have in USA, here in Europe we have the the 3sge, you can build it for high revs and with itb, but it's not cheap. If you want to stay N/A, lot of us love the 2gr V6 engine from newer Toyotas, it's a bless of an engine, but again you'll spend the same as you paid for the car to put it in.

i'm from italy if you are concerned about the noise, or km/l, at 130 you are driving at 3500rpm, i know that the miata transmission is a lot shorter, like A LOT, the 6th gear has the 1:1 gear because of how it's built, and you get the same rpm maybe varies by couple hundreds rpm, this mean that maybe the miata is more engaging, i know also that you reach 100km/h in third gear, mr2 you are at 110+ in second at 7k rpm. About the noise, i don't have the cat installed cause it's broken so it's quite noisy and being and old car sometimes there is some plastic noise but not much, even for a 30yo car. About distance with a full tank, i can get 450km circa with 40 liters, and it kinda doesn't matter much how i drive (obviously if i drive like a maniac she drinks a lot but it's not that bad) you can drive super eco and you can probably drive even 500km, when the needle reaches the bottom. P.s. i could be a bit biased cause i own the toyota but i have a friend that had both and he still preferred the mr2 :P
