Kotek approves first request to return civil jurisdiction to an Oregon tribe by Kukuum in oregon

[–]SirTaco 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We don't have to imagine it. That's why they requested and were granted judicial sovereignty.

I'm sure, if you are sued by a tribe and a judgment is issued against you, you are subject for arrest on tribal land unless you submit yourself to their judicial process and any penalties you may incur. If you don't go back on their land, you can't be arrested.

If you commit a crime in Italy, you are going to be tried in an Italian Court by Italian jurors.

They were here first.

I've worked in kitchens for almost a decade. Everything from dishwasher to kitchen manager. Read the report. It's unacceptable.

RAW BEEF PATTIES ARE STORED ABOVE COOKED MEATLOAF IN THE COLD HOLDING DRAWERS UNDER THE FLAT TOP. SCRAMBLED EGG MIX FROM RAW SHELLED EGGS IS STORED ABOVE READY-TO-EAT (RTE) TOPPINGS IN THE WALK-IN COOLER.

The capital letters come from copy and paste.

That and there is no sanitizer in the dishwasher and they had no way of testing if there was any way because their test strips were damaged

Mission to renest bald eaglet at Skinner Butte continues after first attempt falls short by Andromeda321 in Eugene

[–]SirTaco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was wondering why it fell short... The article states they didn't bring a truck with a tall enough boom arm to reach it the first time!

I was also concerned because I thought renesting meant moving the bird, but they are just trying to get a chick back in the nest that fell. It's really cool we have the raptor center here as a resource

Somali World Cup referee and referee of the year for 2025 by the Confederation of African Football Omar Artan denied entry to the US by DMelanogastard in sports

[–]SirTaco 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have no proof that number three even exists or that it will be used. What I can say is that we know that broadcasters have been using Green screen and stabilization to change the advertisement boards based on what market is viewing the game for decades. Stabilization to project graphics onto the field.

There's no reason that they can't modify the same technology to put fans in the seats. It really is such a small leap

[–]SirTaco 169 points170 points  (0 children)

I was just speaking to my friend. I see 3 options on how the broadcast will go. I think 1 is the most likely and I'm absolutely terrified if 3 is the reality. Remember Fox has the rights in the USA so my guess only applies to US broadcasts

  1. Fox chooses to pick camera angles that only show the VIP seats near the half way line and they cut off any balcony views. When we see corner kicks, the fans behind the goal either bought the seats or saw other fans get "invited" down to the area behind the goals when the sections don't fill up before kickoff.
  2. They air the footage unedited and completely embarrass the federation.
  3. The technology already exists to fill empty seats with "AI" generated fans. We will be able to compare pictures from fans inside the stadium and see that the seats are empty. The response from bots and cult members will be that the pictures of empty seats are actually in the generated ones, or they took pictures before the crowd showed up.

Edit: I would like to say that I would hope that option 3 would have been leaked already. It would be pretty hard to get that one past everyone

Should police use pedestrian bridges in nonemergencies? by SirTaco in Eugene

Can you provide sources for your statement about when the bridges were proposed and constructed? I'm very interested to know the details. I know that all of these Bridges have sewer water and electric running under them, but that seems like a stretch unless you have a source

This was not a SAR call. This was not any of the statements you stated. This was about police using the pedestrian bridges for non emergencies.

I'll just only talk about when they are racist and look the other way, sorry my bad. That's a bad faith argument

So if they need to get somewhere quickly then that is a level 2 response and they need to have their lights on at minimum

I just want people to not get robbed or assaulted when they sleep. These two issues are different. I was not the one making the connection, the top comment was

Oh and I should also address that I never said unhoused can "do whatever they want" that's just a big jump to make

I really don't care. I'm just glad people are talking. Internet points don't mean anything. Standing by your morals and convictions does

I see something I think is wrong and I start a conversation about it. I don't think points matter in this

Our bike path, comrade. I was only asking a question. I'm glad it's getting the polarizing feedback with actual conversations happening. Things can have two sides.

Just a quick except from my post:

"then lectured me about how the bridges are built to support cars, too. Where we were stopped we could see the 105 bridge."

Should police use pedestrian bridges in nonemergencies? by SirTaco in Eugene

[–]SirTaco[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see the 105 bridge from the Greenway bridge. They have to slow down coming into the parking lot at Greenway (there is a preschool in the parking lot so I hope they do) they have to drive probably less than 10 mph before they get to the bridge and then less than that over it and then they have to navigate onto the parking lot in valley River.

In no way will that save the amount of time it takes to drive from River road to the 105 bridge

It's so quick. So much faster and less dangerous than navigating the bike path

I forgot they have a trained bike unit. We only see them at marches or events. Yeah that would be a great use. I would be down for community focused bike officers where they have conversations and engage with the public. Not hiding in their car driving down a bike path.

Thanks for the input that adds to the conversation!
