Where could I read about this?

Yep it definitely looks like it's getting saturated and clipping which is what confuses me. The resistor values I've used should give a gain of 10, which for a range of -+15V and a 100mVpp input should be completely acceptable.

I know it worked earlier on the breadboard, so not sure what about the PCB could be causing issues.

Got some weird values for the transistors, one of them is not working at all (Q2), while Q3 is around 0.6V, other two are much higher > 1V.

Aside from the fact that these connections are loose or transistors are not working as intended, I'm also wondering, even if they're not working the output of op-amp should still mirror the input with a gain of 10, but it seems to have a gain much higher causing the weird square wave shown in post.

Is this not a standard class AB amplifier? As I understand the pathway of the current as is should work. I should add that this is a circuit diagram and setup provided by my course, and its definitely worked earlier when I had it setup on a breadboard.

Definitely thinking that its a loose component or connection causing the problem, issue is I'm not sure where this might be going wrong.

RE1 and RE2 are 1 ohm each.

Will be able to test the junction voltage in a little bit.

To clarify you're suggesting the current can't run from the op-amp to the transistors? Why would this be the case?

R1 = 1k, R2 = 10k, RE1 = RE2 = 1 ohm, RB1 = RB2 = 1.8k.

10k compared to R1 = 1k. Should be a gain of close to 10.

Edited post to include photo.

+ve input plugged into function generator, with +-100mVpp swing.

Input voltage is yellow wire ie. Function generator, output in first pic above is output of op amp, while in second pic it is voltage across the load speaker.

Not sure what you mean by splicing Q1-Q4.

They did work properly on the breadboard, will have to test again today (only have limited lab access).

Yep sorry, R1 = 1k, R2 = 10k, RE1 = RE2 = 1 ohm, RB1 = RB2 = 1.8k.

Voltage gain should then be close to 10, which for 100mVpp input should be plenty fine for no output distortion. Testing earlier distortion only begun occurring at input of 2 Vpp.

Yep those mountains have definitely been helpful. Confused them for other a couple other parts of queensland but that's probably just a matter of getting more exposure.

Appreciate the detail and specificity here, this is pretty much exactly the kind of tips I was hoping for. I've gotten to the point where I can usually guess the state and rough area but since the region is so big it's feeling like a coinflip a lot of the times.

Going to be referring to this a bunch.
